Is there a way to change the welcome email sent to the member who signed up? If so, how?

go into your admin/templates/email_registrationaccepted.tpl
And you can edit it in there to what you would like it to say.
Just keep a backup as it’s overwritten on updates. I don’t allow overriding on admin panel templates as they change pretty often
