New Module Proposal - Schedule Builder [jSchedule]

Another update, making good progress, the end of the month seems like a reasonable date for at least the beta.

I mentioned at the beginning that I am yet to decide whether this will be free or not. Due of the complexity of the project, it seems that I may need to incorporate a plug in at some point which may mean I can only legally distribute it as free of charge, however this is subject to change.

Progress is being made. Slowly. It’s one of those projects you don’t realise the complexity of until you try to code it.

Yesterday, I started to develop it using VB 2010 as well to see which is easiest. In the end, there might be a web and desktop based version.

Just a quick little suggestion, i would add a button that checks all the weekdays for you without clicking each and everyone, or have them automatically selected and there would be a deselect all button. I know when i used to put my schedules in using phpVMS i would hate having to check those boxes.

They are all checked by default, as per the previews.

Just found this forum and I’m very interested. Any idea on timing and price? Or is it already out?

Not released yet. Development came to a halt last month but it hasn’t been abandoned. It will continue this month.

I think you have misunderstood. This is for those who want to build schedules like a real world airline by adding flights per aircraft.

Developement has re-started and is coming along nicely.

The final product should see the tabs removed from view and controled by the dropdown menu exclusively.

i am liking this very much my friend great idead very good is there any way to add the correct price in this for all routes as well like real world flight prices

You’ll need to enter the prices manually, so you’ll need to find that data yourself.

Development is progressing slowly but surely.

The tabs will be an optional feature in the final product, so you can choose whether or not to display them. The drop down menu can also be used to select the aircraft in view.

Quick question for those interested in the module, which one would you prefer?

  1. Select the aircraft and view it’s flights for each day of the week (current method - shown above)
  2. Select the day of the week to show and display the flights that each aircraft does on the selected day

i personaly would like the second option Ian

This looks great. If it is released free, I am interested in it. Thanks

Any more news on progress? I like what I am seeing so far.

Getting there, it’s considerably more complex than I first anticipated. Originally it was designed on an individual aircraft basis, however I’m in the process of converting it into a day of week layout.

anny update on this one Ian?

Nothing done for a few weeks, started to change it around to the new format and realised it wasn’t going to be easy. Will definitely be into next year, but we’ll get there.

This might be out of reach, but would it be possible to have it compile the routes automatically using available aircraft and airports already in the database. Kind of like what the Cargo Ops module does but for passenger flights. You input what aircraft, airports (some or all) and it builds the schedules you want. Say if you wanted everything you got to fly all over the world, it would build the routes and put them on a spreadsheet file for you to go over and then you could upload them, like we do now. I know some are saying that would take the realism out of doing routes, but when you are looking at what I want to do its very time consuming. I would prefer a program that would help do this. I have figured out that when completed I should have close to 100k schedules. If this were to be a payware mod I would definately be interested in purchasing it.

Not too sure what you mean, do you mean random flights, if the user inputs aircraft and airports?
