PIREPS So SLOW! After DB Restore.

Hi,

When I accept/reject a pirep it takes literally ages to accept. I watch the database it changes straight away but the website is just so slow.

This all started after we had to restore the database back a day after one of my staff accidentally deleted it while working on it (Don’t ask).

I’ve tried so many things to fix it Database defrag etc…

The Server is really powerful 4 Xeon E5 v4 Cores and 8GB RAM. Running on Windows Server 2019 IIS and MySQL from XAMPP.

Not sure where to go next, Have surfed this forum for hours and i cant see anyone thats had a similar issue.

*Bump* This seems to surpass my knowledge. Sorry to bump this but i could really use the help.

You are running this locally using XAMPP?? For a production site?

Google “site updates slowly after database restore” for possible solutions.

Haha yes it was only intended for a few pilots but we have exploded in recent months I am looking for a better solution.

I’ll have a look at Google now and post back.

How big is the database? It could be that MySQL itself isn’t properly tuned for the amount of data that you have. The default MySQL settings are ok for general workloads.

Thanks for the replies.

Moved to a better hosted service. Seems you were right  The new server has much better setup for MySQL it must seem because as soon as we migrated over the issue went away.

Looks like whatever XAMPP’s settings are its not enough for an airline with over 500 Members and around 20-30flights submitted daily.
