  1. It looks like you're using a free host due to your dot.tk domain name.

phpVMS and free hosts don't play very well because free hosts are horrible.

I recommend fivedev. It costs 7$ a month, the equivalent of two starbucks coffees.

  2. Okay guys, I need your opinions:

Do you want an app that pops up a notification saying "A new application has been submitted for YourVA" or "A new PIREP has been submitted to YourVA" after which you can go to a menu that displays all the information about the pilot or PIREP with an accept/deny/add comment button?

    OR...

Do you want a full customized mobile admin panel?

  3. I love Android 10x more than I like Apple phones. Open source, easy to mod(I put CM7 on mine), plus a load of other neat things.

When I get the app off the ground, I'll host the files on my own site, and, unfortunately, you'll have to install them manually. It's not that hard on Android, but I don't know about Apple products.

  4. I took a look at your VA site and I really like it. Maybe instead of the black at the top, you can change it to an image. I think that would look really nice.

I, too, don't like dark websites especially for Virtual Airlines. I can understand a dark theme for maybe a COD clan website or something similar but what is dark about flying? When flying comes to mind, I think of bright lights or the color blue.

  5. I'm starting to do mobile application development(Android, Iphone, Ipad) and was wondering if there would be any interest in customized VA chart apps, customized VA route apps, and maybe some customized VA mobile IRC-type chats.

The apps would have the VA colors and logo on it, a customized icon, and pretty much anything else you wanted.

The apps would probably sell for about 15$ for a single airline, all including Android, iPhone, and iPad versions.

Let me know what you guys think

  6. Wow I'm getting old...

I told one of my staff to start entering in every airport they could think of and expected them to have put extremely common ones like KATL and KSEA in there. The only ones the put in were KDEN and KLAX.

Gotta have a talk with them...

Thanks Kyle! I'll mark this post as solved.

    Thanks

  7. Thanks for the reply, Kyle.

I originally wanted to go with the first one but I absolutely hate repainting aircraft and don't want to pay people to repaint all the aircraft(25+ different types, even more counting the different FS models).

A majority of the real world airlines already have extremely successful VA's though so I see no reason to create another one.

    Thanks again!

  8. Hey guys,

I'm in the process of creating a VA(obviously...) and wanted to know your opinions.

Which type of VA attracts more pilots?:

    A fully fictional VA

A VA named after and modeled after a real VA

A VA with a fictional name but one that flies real world callsigns

Right now, I'm leaning toward the last choice. I want my pilots to have the freedom to use the callsign of the airline that they want, the skin of that airline, and have the freedom to fly to more airports than a fictional VA or single real world VA would fly to.

I'd really like to know what you think,

    Cody

  9. Hey guys,

I'm about to start the template on my site but I need to find out what theme I'll use, dark or light.

My COO wants it to be a dark website similar to http://vectorairlines.net/ but I want it to be light colored.

Dark theme would consist of black, grey, and maybe a dark red.

Light theme would consist of blue, white, and red.

    Which attracts more pilots?

    Thanks

    Cody
