vcal
Welcome to our new Virtual airline "Virtual Caledonian". Our Virtual Airline has been formed as a tribute to the former real world airlines, “British Caledonian†and “Caledonianâ€. Our hubs are at Glasgow and Heathrow with a “sub†hub service available from Stansted. Our route structure is mainly European, however, expansion is on the horizon. Our fleet consists of 2x757-200W, 4x757-300s and 8x737-700s, 1x737-800 and 2x747-400s. We started "Virtual Caledonian" as we found that other VAs were all very similar in there working practice and so we decided that it would be a breath of fresh air to just have a airline that’s not "OTT" in its look, therefore here at "Virtual Caledonian" you will find that your hard work, time and dedication will not be strangled by rules and regulations after all, you as a virtual pilot want to be able to fly not be bogged down, its your time, your hobby enjoy it with us. You are able to fly a multitude of routes with different aircraft from our fleet, All we ask in return is that you fly our aircraft on our routes and be honest in your PIREPS.....Thats it.! We have a forum where you are able to chat about any thing you like, we will listen to route requests and suggestions as well as your ideas that will help "Virtual Caledonian" move forwards as we become larger and as you will read in a moment there’s the very real chance your suggested route could happen quicker than you think.!! VCal is also utilising kAcars alongside phpVMS as the pirep system. Pilots can still use programs such as FSPax. Our principles have been outlined below by our Managing Director and Operations Director, this gives you some insight into the formation and core values of "Virtual Caledonian". Mr Richard Mclellan, Company founder and MD stated; The airlines mission will be to offer the cost conscious air traveller and business passenger alike, the opportunity to have a relaxing and traditional journey with ourselves as we have reverted to "old school" airline practices that show the passenger that air travel does not have to be a chore and moreover expensive. We have looked long and hard at our service commitment and have undertaken countless passenger surveys that have lead us to believe that the offer of a, low cost, high quality service that includes meals and drinks, with a baggage allowance of 25kgs per passenger plus the the choice of allocated seating, for a starting price of just £49 pounds. This is a service that we feel is needed as opposed to "No frills" approach that has seen many new start airlines fold under the pressure of costs against revenue, we feel that this service will appeal to the passenger and will allow our aircraft to fly at full capacity as opposed to half full and at a loss. There are 2 international routes at present flying to New Yorks J.F. Kennedy and Miami. More international routes are in the pipeline. We have also recently purchased 2 x Dash 8-Q400s working a contrarotating routing around the UK linking the airports we use. We are recruiting for pilots who will fly on a regular basis Mr Mark Goodhind, Fleet/Operations director added; Our fleet, that’s been procured will serve the airline and routes that we operate well and along with the news, that after talks with ICFL, we are pleased to announce the order for the acquisition of two 747-400s, once acquired will enable us to expand and service the US and Asia pacific regions along with the African continent. We at Caledonian, looked long and hard at what fleet we would utilise and after extensive research, decided on a "Single manufacturer" fleet and that manufacturer we are pleased to say is “Boeingâ€. This decision has been taken as it stands us well in terms of service, reliability, running cost and maintenance costs, as all the aircraft are "Contract maintained" via ICFL through the use of GB Air-services ltd whom have facilities at London and Glasgow. We hope that you enjoy your time with us and wish you the very best in you career here at "Virtual Caledonian.
