eleVAted Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 I know that DeltaVA has bascially the most advanced acars system out there but I have seen others that record exact positions of flights like this and a line that tracks where the plane actually was even on the ground like the shot here on this Delta VA pirep. So my question is can Kacars track exact position updates and show them in the pirep for all to see instead of just a straight line from departure to arrival like it currently depicts. Quote
Stealthbird97 Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 It needs to be integrated into the ACARS program kACARS doesn't do it by default. Quote
eleVAted Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 how can that be done? or is there plans for it to be a custom option? Quote
Tom Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 http://fslive.eu/flight/view/5197 We log it every 5 minutes, as well as speed and altitude... makes for some quite nice maps & graphs... Though, we aren't using kACARS... I would expect it's fairly simple, IIRC kACARS etc just send a big chunk of XML data back to the site, so all it would have to do is create a waypoints table on the site and add location every x seconds into the massive XML string... Guest lorathon Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Yes a custom kACARS can do that, after the PIREP is filed. In the works is a live flight path. Quote
