No problem I will try. But i think that is only a way to turn around the problem. I think that if it's a PHPvms solvable problem it will be turn useful to future users of phpvms preventing them to change the server because the bug.

I see [solved] on thread object but i can't still send emails (i can't use Fedecardoso solution because we don't work on local). Do i have to open another thread?

STMP port is correct and the server supports SSL (we send emails from our smf forum). Phpmailer debug messages says that it tries to connect to gmail but doesn't recognize authentication when trying to send an email. I've the same problem. I use a Gmail account (and smtp google server) to send emails. Phpvms returns authentication errors even if i set AUTH true in local.config.php It's not an host problem because it's ok sending emails from the forum (smf) on the same host and same smtp.

This occurs also when i try to change other settings than avatar. For example changing only Nation, leaving avatar field empty.

In my last installation i've noticed that admin can't save settings... When I try to save settings (general or pilot profile changes), a message come up, "Settings saved", but the settings are not saved on DB and the previous setting are loaded. And seems to be in some way near your case. It seems that admin cannot write on db.

When i try to modify my profile it returns the following message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function imageantialias() in /var/www/virtual/italianaviation.com/civile/htdocs/core/common/PilotData.class.php on line 724

After inserting correct parameters on database page, it returns a lot of messages like this Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/3429c76e4ee535c636996d8dbaeaecb2) is not within the allowed path(s):[...] /core/classes/SQL.class.php on line 594 and installation terminates there. With the beta version the installation goes smooth. I can't modify php.ini or httpd.conf. Suggestions? thanks in advance EDIT I've commented the lines in SQL.class.php that refers to file_exist function. in Get_cache function. PhpVMS can work without these lines?
