Problem with umlauts (correct word?)

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I started today with working on the website for our newVA. I decided to take a CSS Skin and to port for PHPvms. Everythings worked perfectly until I started with writing the texts. Every Umlauts (Umlaute is the German word, there seems to be no English word for it) are not correctly displayes. Second thing is, that I cant get the Image smalller. I am using this Skin from freecsstemplates.org. I displayed everything here to make it clear for you:

I hope anyone has a solution!

Last night I changed the CSS Skin, because I didn't like the old skin so much. So is the image problem away, just the "Umlauts" problem is still there. I set also in the head the <meta http -equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> tag. Today in the afternoon I will give the iso-8859-1 a try. Maybe it helps! And what do you mean with  ? Sorry this is my first more advanced website so I don't have so much knowledge.

Have you tried using HTML entities instead of typing them straight into your skin? Your editor might be configured incorrectly, as they don't show up correctly in the page source either.

E.g. Ü for Ãœ or ü for ü

It works! Thank you very much!
