dnannann
Well, I've been using FSX for a long while, and after a bit of a hiatus due to collegiate obligations I'm considering starting up a VA project. The basic idea I have is a low-cost carrier based in California, preferably an airport in the Los Angeles area. Right now it's between LAX and Ontario Int'l as a base. The airline would start off operating city-hopper services within California, with maybe a few services to areas in Nevada or Arizona. I'm thinking that it might start off with a fleet of Embraer jetliners, most likely EMB-170s but maybe 190s. I'm a bit iffy about that, though - I think it might be a bit too ambitious for a start-up airline, though I think California Pacific Airlines is starting off with a similar fleet, and EMBs seem small enough for a startup but big enough for the kinds of LA-Sacramento or LA-San Francisco flights that would probably be the backbone of the airline. If the airline manages to get somewhat successful, expansion possibilities in other areas of the US (maybe transcontinental service, depending on fleet expansion) and Mexican vacation destinations are natural choices. A provisional name for it is "gocal.com", but a truncated form of that or "flycal" or some other variation of that are also possibilities. What I think I need is some feedback on the feasibility of this idea. Maybe some advice, maybe some other guidance. It's still very vague, but I really want to try and get this thing going. I think it could actually work.
dnannann
Alright, I've got a bit of a preliminary logo made, going off of the "gocal.com" name idea. It's quite basic, though. As for web hosting, I'm thinking TFDi Design right now. I'd like some other tips when it comes to good webhosts, though. Get a better picture of what's out there and all. Moderators servetas Posted January 23, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted January 23, 2015 I can say that your logo looks pretty good. By the way, pay attention announcing domains in public forums before you register them although as i can see gocal.com has been registered since 1997-11-15...

I've registered a different domain seeing as that one's already been taken, and truncated the airline's name to just GoCal to match.
dnannann
I'm thinking I might need some advice for GoCal's fleet. Right now I'm planning on using the A320 family - A321s for transcontinental service, A320s for most other destinations and major shuttle services within California, and A318s for lower-density domestic operations and for services to smaller cities in California. I might also use A330s for possible long-range international service and some sort of regional airliner to smaller areas on the West Coast. Sound good enough?
