bwilber
I don't mean to question your skills at all, Jeff, but can you explain why kACARS_Free has to be run as Administrator on Vista or Windows 7? As a Linux user, I have been taught to avoid running programs as root like the plaque. Isn't this a security hole, running as admin, or am I mistaken? Guest lorathon
It may be possible to change it but I just haven't gotten around to give it a try. The reason is lost to me now but will look into it when I update the free version in the future. As far as a security hole I doubt it, the app does not access anything windows related. Just its own files.
RogerB
Is it really that big of a deal?? I run it on windows 7 without admin access
Strider
To avoid running it as an administrator, install it to the documents folder. It only requires to be run as an administrator when you install it to the programs(X86) folder. Files in that folder are not usually made to send to others. Also you may have admin rights, but not root admin rights to the pc.
bwilber
If it's not a security risk, and I will take Jeff's word for it, I have no problem running it as admin. I was just curious is all. Must be just another difference between Windows and Linux.

True, but I'm sure you'll find that they are programs dealing with administrative tasks, and not something users on a domain would use regularly.
