I think I have you covered on that one. Let me check my list O' discs

Well, lol Sorry. I did not mean for it to sound as if it was a resource eater. I have been modding phpBB for a very long time now... Well, I never wrote my own mods, just helped clean them up and all we ever tried to do was think of ways to slim down a sql call or two where possible. I Really need to get out of this mode of thinking. It was just a thought that might work for some VA's and not for others. I know some like to stick to their guns and prune pilots when able. Or Trim The Fat so to speak. I just don't care to do that. Anyhow, I'll take a back seat on this one. Have chatted about it long enough. Have your self a fine day Nabeel. Thanks for your time today.

Well really there is none. let me paint the following picture for you if I may. I join a VA called MyVA. MyVA tells me I MUST fly 10 hours a month or see ya later and sorry Charlie. I really think that is bogus. They do not pay my electric or internet bill there for I have to work and as well I have an old lady and 3 kids. I miss my 10 hours this month and they out me. Fine then F off! Oh and what if my computer crashes and I can't afford to fix it for 3 or 4 months because I'm busy paying for life and 3 kids? I got pruned for taking care of life and NOT playing a video game. ??? Now my VA on the other hand, caters to old 36 year old fogies such as myself. If you can fly great! If not, we'll see you when you get back. So basically what I was getting at was, if they do not fly for say 3 months, it moves them to inactive where they remain and would NOT show up on pilots list taking up space and sql resources. Every time that info is called on to that page it is eating up a sql querys. So lets save some resource by moving them to an inactive status saving the website time and space and resources. Easier said than done I am sure. ;D Then in 2 or 3 or 4 months when they come back, IF they do, all they do is file a single pirep and tah dah! they are active again. Once again, easier said than done I am more than sure. They didn't get pruned, and I retained a pilot in the process and his feelings were not hurt for getting pruned off the list. So inactive verses active in the end only means one thing Active = using the system In Active = Not using the system and eating up resources.

Ok guys. Thanks. I'll leave out the www part and see how it goes.

Ok joeri I appreciate it. I'll PM you if the suggestion you gave don't work out for me. 8)

In case you all did not hear, Aces, the team that made flight simulator for microsoft, is open for business and making a new flight simulator. I jsut read the post the other day about it. I can see some of these websites like the one mentioned above re opening soon. I know how people bug and bug developers about when is the release date and they had mentioned Easter of 2012 http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=29444 Now I am not sure if the Aerosoft version and Aces team are the same entity or not. I caught wind of both the same day and it was kind of Ironic they both have the same release date.

Here's a good one. Not sure if it is a skinning question or what. Sorry if is in wrong section. I have my forum installed and in my phpBB3, I have placed a link in the header BACk to my main site. So if I am logged in on my main site and then visit my forum, when clicking the link to go back to my main site, it shows me NOT logged in until I click at least 1 link on site. Do you know of any good way to solve this issue?
-
Well, The reason why I say that is, because I fly for another VA from time to time and they have theirs set up like that. Once a pilot goes inactive for 3 months, it moves them to inactive and when they file a pirep, it automatically brings them back as active instead of getting pruned like a BUNCH of VA's tend to do when life gets in the way of a video game. It would save loads of work on admin side, though not so sure how much work it would be to do on your end. Most likely more than I care to imagine. ;D

The only one I have ever saw that default in was the Ready For Pushback 747. And yes, it is nice to have.
-
I will just have to make a forum post about it. Transfer hours will not show up until after a pirep is filed. it kind of had me fooled to begin with. Got it all lined out now.
-
I could not help but notice, if you send out a message to all pilots, it messages the sender as well. This is not actually necessary and takes up extra sql resources. Is there any way to make it so that it does NOT send a Message to the sender?

In light of recent talks about pilot ranks, I failed to ask one question. I want to create a Inactive pilot rank. That is easy enough, BUT what to do about the hours? Do I set it for some un godly amount so no other pilot gets updated to that rank? Meaning that the inactive pilot gets this rank manually via the ACP? It would be great if the system recoginzed users who have not filed a pirep in say 3 months and move them inactive and give them that rank as well.
-
Ok so What it amounts to after a test today by another pilot is, they need to file atleast 1 pirep no matter what after transfer hours are given via the ACP. Once the pilot filed a pirep, it updated his rank as it should have.
-
Well, it is the latest version as of 3 or 4 days ago i believe. I'll register over there in a few minutes. I need to finish tweaking this template first before I forget what I was up too. ;D
-
No probs. ;D That happens from time to time eh?
-
That would be great. I have been thinking about 2 different pages. 1 for active like we have now, and if they click a link, it will show only inactive. Not sure if that is doable though.
-
That would be great. Thanks for offering to take a look. The VA is old but REALLY new. Contradicting I know We have not really gained any steam as far as fleet or anything go. I had a guy that is supposed to paint for me What ever fleet he feels we need, and so far he is like a bump on a log. I am actually testing the system with the old aircraft from a VA long gone.
-
Yes it is set to true. I still can't get them to change in spite of everything I have done. Ill go wireless on my girlfriends laptop and see if I am having a cookie issue, but I have deleted them numerous times and recalculated everything in the ACP as well. Be back after more testing.

Sorry for posting here, but am using one of your skins from your work shop and have a quick question about it. Am using it to learn the skinning system and tweaking a bit here and there. I fixed the ACARS map. It would not show at all. Only a gray back ground. Now I have this simple ( to some one ), but elusive to me issue. Check out my pilots page if you have a second. http://paranormalinsights.com/phpVMS/index.php/pilots Notice I have 2 hubs. KMCI and KSUS Look what happens when it shows the 2 hubs pilots. I compared the code to Crystal and it is the same and it does not do that in Crystal. I'm a bit cornfused ;D

I have the same exact error. I noticed in the title of my thread, he has marked it. So I'm guessing Nabeel is looking into this.
-
Sorry about that James. I guess it would have helped if I would have asked that or contemplated it. And thanks for that tip on the time Nabeel. Much appreciated.

A quick run down of ranks in order. New Hire = 0-10 Trainee2 = 11-20 Trainee3 = 21-30 I spotted us all 50 hours via the ACP [Admin Control Panel]. So far, my regular user account is the only one that has gained a Rank. And that was not even after recalculating everything. I officially did not get updated until after my Pireps put me over the 10 hour mark. THEN I had to recalculate again and Tah Dah!! Done ;D So the way it is looking now, they will have to go over the mark in order to gain rank. No biggie. I'm all for starting from scratch and treating it as a career like FS Passengers anyhow, but like I said, since it is Beta, I am just running it through the mill and back again. The rule of thumb with me is, if it can break, it will break while I am in control. ;D ;D
-
If you have installed the beta version, it is default in the templates. It should show on the home page automatically under new pilots on right side. Currently, when you login, you must click the remember me box for it to save your session and show current user online in last 20 minutes. While on this topic, is there any way we can change this to show number of users online in the last 24 hours instead of 20 minutes?

Very good point on the no pirep. I never even thought of that. I do however, have another pilot that has filed a couple pireps and he is in the same boat. No rank update. * Pilot ID: TAV0002 * Rank: New Hire * Total Flights: 2 * Total Hours: 52.50 * Location: United States United States I have recalculated everything in the admin panel and even deleted cookies, let browser sit closed for 15 minutes and came back and still is the same.
-
Ok that's what I was wondering. Thanks guys. I will try to recalculate again. The guys/gal on my site so far helping me test, combined have thousands of hours. I could not very well credit all them hours, so as a good measure, I spotted us all 50 hours. After I did that, I recalculated and all and nothing happened. And yes I do have transfer set to true in my config file. So maybe this is support after all now. For example, you can see what is going on if you look at this. * Your Pilot ID: TAV0004 * Your Rank: New Hire * Total Flights: 0 * Total Hours: 50.00 * Total Money: $ 0.00 You have 11 hours left until your promotion to Captain R Notice his next promotion is Captain R but he is a new hire? He should at bare minimum be a Trainee2 even without any flights. This is a test account for me by the way. Thus no flights. I only fly with my regular account so I have a account to test with and one to fly/test with.
