Joburgtaxi
Hi We are having a problem where the "Airline Latest Events" section of our airline is not updating on vacentral. this can bee seen here http://www.vacentral...eo_geoairlines Although the last updated date on the page shows that updates are happening the data in the Airline latest events section is not updating and staying static. All PIREPS are getting filed with vacentral and can be seen on the last 100 flights page so it just seems to be a problem with this particular section. As I am quite a noob can someone give me any advice on what to check so that I can track down why this is not working. Thanks
Moderators servetas Posted January 27, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted January 27, 2016 Moved it to vacentral section Have you checked this?
Joburgtaxi
Hi yes I have checked that and don't think it is related, this was working until a few days ago however since a couple of pilots started using fspax it seems that the airline latest events section on vacentral has stopped updating, not sure if that is just coincidence or not. Administrators simpilot Posted January 27, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 27, 2016 I just responded to your email but I basically sent you to the same link. Can you send me or post what the title and time of the last couple of news posts were so I can try to research them? I tried looking on your site but do not seem to find a news feed anywhere, maybe you have to be logged in.
Joburgtaxi
David Thanks for your reply. We do not actively or manually post any new news items on the website but the Airline latest events section on VACentral has always just updated automatically until a few days ago.. I have also noticed that we do not have a news link on our webpage (not sure if we ever did ?) but the news section in admin panel is there and there are just 2 test news items in there. These same 2 test news items are reflected in the database as well in the phpvms_news table. I need to understand how the data flow works ie. what scripts and files are involved to transfer the data from phpvms to VAcentral and specifically what are the mechanisms involved for getting the below data onto the http://www.vacentral...geo_geoairlines (Airline Latest Events) section of the page because that is what I need to investigate the connection and transport mechanisms do not seem to be relaying the data required for the update. AS I said this just mysteriously stopped working on the 24th January where you can see that that was the last successful event to be updated although you can see from the image below that VAcentral is showing that it believes an update did take place recently

Airline Latest Events
1/24/2016 - Alan Peel completed flight BVG594 (LFBU-LFBX)
1/24/2016 - Alan Peel completed flight BVG514 (LFDN-LFBU)
1/24/2016 - Andrew Jackson completed flight BVG2988 (EGNT-EGKK)
1/23/2016 - Ferry Van Der Locht completed flight BVG9141 (ENTO-EYVI)
1/23/2016 - Alan Peel completed flight TDW14 (ZMKD-ZMBH)
1/23/2016 - Ferry Van Der Locht completed flight BVG12748 (EDLW-LWSK)
1/23/2016 - Jay Murphy completed flight BVG531 (EGSS-EHAM)
1/23/2016 - Alan Peel completed flight TDW13 (ZWWW-ZMKD)
1/23/2016 - Glenn White completed flight BVG14220 (LPPT-EGCC)
1/23/2016 - Ferry Van Der Locht completed flight BVG7567 (EPKK-EDLW)

Airline Latest Site News
9/02/2015 - Welcome to phpVMS!

Joburgtaxi
Hi I am assuming that this is the file where the data is sourced from phpvms / lib / rss / latestpireps.rss The contents of the file as it currently stands does have the latest data as below but this is not getting passed to VACentral ?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Latest Pilot Reports RSS Feed

http://geoairlines.c...description>The latest pilot reports

Report #9016 - KMYL to KBIL

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by TDW051 (Alan Peel)

Report #9015 - DTTJ to EHAM

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by BVG529 (Ferry Van Der Locht)

Report #9014 - NZCH to NZAA

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by BVG211 (Hasan Deniz)

Report #9013 - CYYT to CYYR

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by BVG002 (Ernie Eyre)

Report #9012 - KBFI to KMYL

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by TDW051 (Alan Peel)

Report #9011 - FACT to SBGL

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by TDH216 (Joshua Janssen)

Report #9010 - NZCH to NZAA

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by BVG051 (Alan Peel)

Report #9009 - BGSF to BGBW

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by TDW777 (Phil Jones)

Report #9008 - NZCH to NZAA

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by BVG737 (Darryn Fisher)

Report #9007 - NZCH to NZAA

http://geoairlines.c...id>

Filed by BVG216 (Joshua Janssen)

Administrators simpilot Posted January 28, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 28, 2016 I did not understand what you were referring to, I was thinking the site news feed. I looked and it is actually right, the last true PIREP was put in the system on the 24th, the vasats have been updating. I am am guessing that your site is set to use json data which for some reason has all of a sudden given many sites an issue. When you go to your admin panel does it show flight waiting to be exported and when you try you get a message the there is no response from the API server? If so, try changing it to xml and let me know. http://forum.phpvms.net/topic/23275-exporting-pirep/#entry122813
Joburgtaxi
Hi David I will try this line in the config file later however PIREPS are getting filed on VAcentral as we can see them on the "Last 100" flights and it seems that they are counting towards our ranking score too. It is just that AIRLINE LATEST EVENTS section that is not updating.
Joburgtaxi
David There are only two options under VAcentral settings in the admin page they are, which one do I select ? vaCentral Options These are your options for vaCentral. Note that your schedules and PIREPs will automatically export, and you don't need to manually do it. Send Schedules This sends out the latest version of your schedules to the vaCentral server. You can only do this once a day. Send PIREPs This will resend all your PIREPS. Only do this if it has been the first time, and none of your PIREPs are showing up on vaCentral. This will wipe out all your data on vaCentral, and reset your finances and ranking. When selecting SEND Schedules I get Sending schedules... There was an error, server said ""
Administrators simpilot Posted January 29, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 29, 2016 Have you tried adding the new config line to your vaCentral config?
Joburgtaxi
Yes but I don't know how to force an update so I will have to wait for an automatic one
Joburgtaxi
Just noticed that the last update time has changed on VAcentral but the Airline larest events has not changed. Is there supposed to be a VAcentral table in the database ?
Administrators simpilot Posted January 29, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 29, 2016 It should update as soon as a PIREP is filed, or you should be able to use the "Send PIREPS" link in the vaCentral control panel of your admin center. Administrators simpilot Posted January 29, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 29, 2016 Just noticed that the last update time has changed on VAcentral but the Airline larest events has not changed. Is there supposed to be a VAcentral table in the database ? The vastats update that you are seeing is separate from PIREP and ACARS data and only updates once every 24 hours. The events are driven by PIREP submissions which should be happening as soon as it is filed unless you have made changes to your system. I am not aware of any database table in phpVMS that would be for vaCentral specifically.
Joburgtaxi
David Nope this is still not working, any other ideas ? The send PIREPS button is that the one that says "This will resend all your PIREPS. Only do this if it has been the first time, and none of your PIREPs are showing up on vaCentral. This will wipe out all your data on vaCentral, and reset your finances and ranking." I am not sure I want to wipe out all the data on VAcentral as it says it will do. Joburgtaxi
David Ok I have just pushed the send PIREPS button and got the below message. Successfully sent message! (Server said "Updated 554 of 554") The Airline latest events has still not updated though ???
Administrators simpilot Posted January 29, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 29, 2016 I think I figured it out, there are no other airlines with this issue so I started looking at your data and the newest PIREP right now has a unique_id of 9042 yet there are PIREPS from your airline with a unique ID as high as 10874. This is the id that is assigned to it in your database of PIREPS. When the vacentral system sees a PIREP come in that has the same airline id and the same unique id as a PIREP already in the system it assumes it is an update and updates the old pirep, and also bypasses the activity feed. My guess is that on the 24th you guys reset your PIREPs database, or at least cleaned some out or something and reset the id column back to somewhere in the 9000's. Two solutions; 1 - I can delete all the PIREPS from the vaCentral database and you can resubmit them and it should correct the id issue or; 2 - Set your id column of your PIREPs table to something above 10874
Joburgtaxi
Hi Ok I have set my last PIREP to 10875 and reset the column auto increment to start at 10876 so if your theory is correct the next one to come in should file correctly on VAcentral. Will let you know
Joburgtaxi
David Ok that has worked, thank you :-) Should I also just leave that date line in the local config file ?
Administrators simpilot Posted January 30, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 I would leave it set to XML if that is what you are referring to. I have yet to figure out why a php upgrade makes some sites json data collapse when it hits the server. I would really prefer everyone use xml anyway.
