John J Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Hi all, I hope somebody can help me. I installed the latest version today (fresh install). All went well there, but..... When I use my XP computer with IE6 the admin menu is compressed to the side bar, but on my vista one it is fine. Any ideas ? Lastly, when I try to add an airport I put in the ICAO code and click lookup, It doesnt do a lookup and at bottom left I get "error on page". I checked the lookup site and that seems to be working. Now I am stuck, any help would be appreciated. IO like the program, very nice Thanks John Quote
Administrators Nabeel Posted January 23, 2009 Administrators Report Posted January 23, 2009 Hey there John, Welcome to the site, thanks for checkin out the program. Are you using the beta or the latest released version? And when you double click the 'Error on page', what's the error that you get? Quote
John J Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Hey Nabeel, Thank you for the warm welcome its nice to be here. ;D I got the latest release from the site phpvms.full. The airport I was looking up was KIAH (Houston InterContinental) I tried others, same effect. The eror says when double clicked: Line:2 char:1 Error:Syntax error Code:0 URL: http://www.mysite.com/vms/admin/?admin=airports I am using PHP5 I hope you can shed some light on this as I am so far impressed by your work. Thanks John Quote
Administrators Nabeel Posted January 24, 2009 Administrators Report Posted January 24, 2009 Interesting. Can you try reuploading the files, just to rule out corruption while uploading? Quote
John J Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Nabeel, I uploaded the files again and still get the same error. Strange John Quote
John J Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Nabeel, I think I have found the problem.... It seems that the web service at ws.geonames.org has changed in the last days to ws5.geonames.org due to overloading by ipods. I did a direct link with KIAH as the airport to the new ws5 server and hey presto back came the xml fully loaded. I think this may well cause everyone a problem when they try to add an airport. No doubt you will be able to tell me which files to edit to correct the URL as I did change the link in operationsData.class but it still pulls the old URL. Nice of geonames to let us know I look forward to hearing from you John Quote
John J Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Nabeel, An update for you. I changed the URL in 3 files and now the aiports add works perfectly John Quote

John J Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Mark The following files were altered to the new URL core/common/OperationsData.class admin/modules/import/import.php admin/lib/phpvmsadmin.js Hope this helps John J Quote
Moderators mark1million Posted January 24, 2009 Moderators Report Posted January 24, 2009 Nice one cheers! Quote
Moderators mark1million Posted January 24, 2009 Moderators Report Posted January 24, 2009 Ha Fantastic works a treat. was wondering why that stopped working Quote
John J Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Glad to hear you got it working OK. Perhaps someone can help me find out why in XP with IE6 the admin center menu bar is all over to the left and unusable. It works fine in Vista IE7 and firefox. Is it an XP thing or a browser thing. Any help appreciated John Quote
Moderators mark1million Posted January 24, 2009 Moderators Report Posted January 24, 2009 ie is a real pain especially 6. ie doesn't handle java very well, its processing engine is c**p. Quote
Administrators Nabeel Posted January 25, 2009 Administrators Report Posted January 25, 2009 Just read their forum, w5 will be temporary. So you'll have to make those changes again. I've just changed in the latest build, to include that in the configuration, in case that changes again. As for the admin, can you show some screenshots? Well, if you can wait a week or two, there will be a new admin panel with those problems fixed. Quote
John J Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 Hi Nabeel, Nice job man. AS for IE6 I changed up to IE7 so it was obviously 6 at fault.7 is fine. I am not in a hurry so I will wait for the new admin panel. Thanks John Quote
