Virtualei
Hi all, Has anyone got any advice on which forum to use. I have tried using SMF webinstall but with no luck Cheers
TennShadow
I use SMF but I could never get the web install to work so I just installed it manually. It's really easy. 1. Create your database and database user and assign the needed permission. I'm thinking it was DBO but I can't remember. 2. Upload the full forum to your forum directory using FTP. 3. Run the installer.
Virtualei
Hi Keith, I had a look at that also but i am unsure how to create the database. I am still learning i know you have to do it through phpadmin but thats it
Virtualei
got it sorted. i was making the mistake of trying to create a table rather than creating a database:):)
fsxsimulation
got it sorted. i was making the mistake of trying to create a table rather than creating a database:):) anyways i would suggest you to use IPBOARD [payware]
tutmeister
Check out MyBB, it's a free board with similar features to vBulletin, is super-lightweight and easy on the eye with some very good themes. Take a look at a free them I'm using here: http://forum.unityvirtual.net/

flyalaska
anyways i would suggest you to use IPBOARD [payware] The average VA owner won't spill out $149 for IPB, it is well worth it. I have IPB as a few others here. Best board that I ever had.

flyalaska
yup well its worth it I am working on a points system now. We will use the points to purchase Payware skins.
Moderators mark1million Posted September 1, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 I have IPB and yes it is good but the other free developers are fast catching up with the features, I have had another look in to mybb and its looking good so far. tutmeister
Mark, no I don't currently do that but it is very simple to do so (in fact, I need to actually get off my butt and do this soon). You can look at some of the (reverse to what we want to do) examples to get some idea as to how MyBB functions: http://phpdave.com/MyBBIntegrator/
