downgrade from phpvms beta to phpvms release version

Is it possible to downgrade from one of the beta releases to release version

or is it better to make a full restart delete and reinstall

As far as I know you can downgrade to a release version, in reality, you hould always use a release version as your main site, and have the beta version in a sub folder, where you can test it.
