Question on how to get pilots to use a forum

I have IPB and not many use it, is there a way to get pilots to use the forum? If so what is it?

I use an auto register and login api for the forum and put all downloads, or at least the links to them, in the forum. That at least gets one visit.

I use ip.downloads as mva's download center. I have set it to you have to login to view the forum, no account must register one.

Don't know what to tell you then, if they are not logging in to get the downloads at least then they are not very interested in anything else I guess.

Well, Here's an untested tip:

Try to move most of the Virtual airline pilot-staff communications over to the forums. If there is a virtual airline news put it on there. Also, give pilots an award for most posts this month or something similar. That, however, doesn't match the traffic you'll get if you actually put out a small giveaway over at the forums.

Show your lates forum post on your site. If they see whats being discussed, they will more likely join in.

I have tried to use the ssi from ipb, but it does not work, just gives me errors. Anyone any tips on how to get it to work with phpvms?

The SSI is junk. You have to use IP Content. Thats how I did it.
