Could not open Socket - pilot registration

I have been having troubles with the new pilot registrations on phpVMS because after the registration there is a popup with "COuld not open Socket" and the registration fails.

Please help me

It has been previously reported that phpVMS is not compatible with most of the free web hosting providers because of their limitations.

Your site will not even come up for me and I think you are probably fighting a losing battle but try this if you are using a version other than mine;

In file /core/lib/recaptcha/recpathalib.php find line 40, it should be;

define("RECAPTCHA_VERIFY_SERVER", "api-verify.recaptcha.net");

and change it to;

define("RECAPTCHA_VERIFY_SERVER", gethostbyname('api-verify.recaptcha.net'));

My guess is that your free host does not have the option enabled. I would contact them but they will most likely tell you to upgrade to paid hosting.
