seatbackpocket
My web design savvy is low, my knowledge of PHP and CSS is right down there with it. I've spent the last 3 or 4 days (here and there) trying to standup a reasonably functional PHPVMS solution to start a private VA to just record my flights on stream and have a degree of 'character progression.' But ultimately I've ended up with something that's non-functional. http://allegiantvirtual.org/index.php Are there any turnkey solutions available? I'm good on hosting but I'm looking to commission/pay for a service that will install, setup, skin and get things to look half decent with regards to a website. A lot of the links I find are 2-5 years old and half of them go to placeholder websites. Thanks!
Administrators ProAvia Posted April 5, 2019 Administrators Report Share Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) Finish your install as directed at .../install/install.php - Then delete or rename the install folder. Let's see what you have from there. Are you intending to mimic the RW AllegiantAir? Is this just for your use or will you be running a VA? You will need to add aircraft, airports and routes not matter what. EDIT: ok, install went good as I see the main page now. seatbackpocket
Hey Pro, yeah was going through a clean install again. Perfect timing. Installation completed, install folder removed. I've reproduced the full route map (including departing/arriving ICAO and real world flight numbers). Yes, was intended to mimic loosely. Working through the fleet and route stuff now. Administrators ProAvia Posted April 6, 2019 Administrators Report Share Posted April 6, 2019 If this is only for your own use, you can probably get by with the starter skin - crystal. If you intend to take public, you may wish to consider an addon skin. There are a few free ones available here on the site. Several folks use the CrewCenter skin by Mark Swan - a bit of a learning curve to install and adapt to any addon modules not included. Post any questions you may have and someone will probably be able to help. You will need a Google Maps key for the map to work correctly. Heritage1
Heads up Pro, it looks like the install is vaBase............correct if I'm wrong by all means. If you are using PHPVMS Seatback....let me know, I have over 7 Skins I will give you you, 3 are active and the others I can engage in less then 3 seconds. Here are some links, as mentioned, you can have a couple of skins, for free of course. The first one is a stripped down skin, however it is very universal at the same time, and would be a good choice just to get going. You can always change skins later. Second Link is another Demo, but a very active site, using bootstrap 4.x.xx & HTML5. And my active Military site which is very busy........give you some ideas anyway. Hope this helps. The skins are the easy part, getting things to work right is a different story.....lol. Do remember most of my sites are for demo's, as I try to help out many friends around the board here. Administrators ProAvia Posted April 6, 2019 Administrators Report Share Posted April 6, 2019 Well, when I responded yesterday it was phpVMS and the site used the default crystal skin. This morning it's vabase and most of the links don't work correctly. I guess the OP needs to dedide which direction he's going to go. seatbackpocket
It was PHPVMS, but I got tired of faffing around with it and went in a different direction that for my needs was more turnkey. I was prepared to pay and so far so good.
Administrators ProAvia Posted April 8, 2019 Administrators Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 Good luck Jason. Best of luck with VAbase.
seatbackpocket
Thanks Pro. Sounds like i'm going to need it. I'll give PHPVMS another go, once I teach myself some fundamental PHP, I'm just not equipped/prepared to do a lot of tweaking. I'm a WIX kind of guy.
