  2. I did post in the other thread, that it has been resolved. It appeares that the hosting company wrote a different portnr for the SMTP than I should use. But thanks for helping.
  3. The env.php file has been replaced by the .env file. All the email settings are in there. Return the config.php file to its default state. In addition to the link kindly provided by @DisposableHero , your hosting panel should provide an Email Accounts area with valuable info. If your hosting provides cPanel, have a look at this article to set up SMTP https://cpanel.net/blog/tips-and-tricks/setting-up-and-troubleshooting-smtp-in-cpanel/ I would suggest updating any phpVMS v7 sites you help with to the latest dev build, available in the #v7-releases channel of the phpVMS discord.

  5. Forgive me my stupidity, but I am not a developer. I am an technical manager like sharepoint manager. So I know a tiny bit, and can read things. And make some scripts. But you are a champ. I did a couple of things. Make a copy of all the files. Create a PHPVMS foler on the toplevel and copy all files into there. Deleted all from public_html Copy the files from public into the root of public_html and got an server 500 error. But I learned from another tip you gave me, and deleted all under bootstrap/cache. And it worked. Then looked into the sending mail issue. It is nice that the host is putting a different portnumber on there helpdesksite and it does not work. 😉 So after fiddeling out that, I could send emails. Thank you for your great support. RobB
  6. You can change the installation location or file locations without re-installing or deleting the database. Good luck

  8. Ouch. LOL. Can I do an upgrade/reinstall to my installation in order to fix this? Or should I do a reinstallation? Including deletion of the complete database. RobB
  9. Installing methods did not changed, they were always same (only 1st and 2nd suggestion was swapped due to their usage frequency) ... Unfortunately, what you did is the worst and most unsecure method to install / run phpvms v7, and it was always like that. What your friend did back in time was one of the suggested methods and it is still ok to use v7. https://docs.phpvms.net/installation/uploading Hope this helps.
  10. I have an issue with sending mail from my freshly installed site (version 7). And I looked where to change the SMTP settings in what file. In a friends installation I did some time ago, I found that I had edited the env.php file. So I searched in the new site for that same file, but I cannot find it. However I also did find a config.php in the bootstrap directory. I did add the SMTP stuff in there, but that seems not to work. Wrong spot? I am using a mailadres from my hosting company. Help is appreciated. RobB
  11. Thanks for explaining. That is what I expected, somewhat, but I got lost in to which folder to use. Is my assumption correct that the installationmethod was different a few years ago? Or did my mind mess with me? The installation I did for my va, I did put everthing in the public_html folder. And it feels a bit more logical. Is it possible to change the setup of my friends VA where the bulk of files in the PHPVMS folder, into put all into public_html? RobB
  12. Same logic applies, nothing different Replace the files under phpvms folder of yours with the ones from latest dev (simply unpack latest dev in that folder), then copy over the public folder contents over your public_html folder.

  14. For a friend I did install PHPVMS 7.0.0-dev+221130.ced201. Where the files are not in the public_html folder but on a PHPVMS folder on the same hight has public_html. See the attachment. Back then when I did do the installation, it seemed to us, that all should be put in a separate directory. I read the update documents, and it went well for another va, So I know a tiny bit. But I would like to have some advice on where to put the files now? Thanks ahead, RobB
  15. Thanks champs. Update successfull. 7.0.0-dev+240407.8554a3 I also saw the METAR working now. This can be called closed. Though will update another VA site of a friend of mine, but there is something specific, and I will ask some help to update that one in another post. Thanks.
  16. Docs link is at the top already (which you have found too) Good luck with the update
  17. I have decided to upgrade. I do find the latest version on Discord from april 7. However I do not find the same on the forum, perhaps I look in the wrong spot (Announcements). Can I find a description for the update? Thanks ahead. RobB PS, I found an article in the docs and specific for updating. I will let you know if I succeed,
  18. Good news, glad you solved it. It is up to you, update or do a fresh install... Just use latest dev build, how you do it is just a choice for now. If you have nothing to lose, fresh install will be easy, but I would prefer updating to have some practice for future updates
  19. I have deleted the cache file, and it works now. Thank you both for your advice. The questions remains, can I/should I upgrade to the newest version? RobB
  20. Thanks for the answer. I cannot reach the admin part either so I will delete what you suggest. can I upgrade to the latest version? or is it better to start over as I do not have much added to the site? robB
  21. Hi Rob, Technically either from discord or from this forum, downloading the latest dev (development) build is the best choice... Beta.5 is ok too but it had some nice bugfixes after release and latest dev is better than the beta.5 at the moment. Additionally, when you duplicate a theme (be it the default theme or an addon theme), you need to (this is a must) edit the theme.json and change the name, which needs to match the folder name you used. Only then it will be possible to use it and avoid any errors like you mentioned above. So considering the error in your hands; You need to either clean the application cache from admin > maintenance page or if you can not reach there too, then you need to delete the mentioned (bootstrap/cache/themes.php) file manually for it to be re-created with the corrected info. Hope this helps, good luck
  22. Thanks for your reply. Well I downloaded the version from the website. I was not aware of versions on discord. Should have downloaded from discord? i can reinstall as there is no man overboard and i did not add to many things. which cache do you mean? Browser cach? No but I testes on different browsers and devices. Rob
  23. Did you install phpVMS v7 beta 5 or the latest dev build from the discord releases channel? Did you clear the cache after changing any files and before setting the theme to other than default?
  24. I had installed the latest version of PHPVMS 7.0 And I had it working. In order to start with a different page, I had copied the Theme default to a new name and uploaded that. I hade not changed the theme.json. I go into the admin part and select the new theme name. And on that moment I get a Server error 500 I did find this part in the logs: [2024-04-17 00:02:21] production.ERROR: Theme default already exists {"exception":"[object] (Igaster\\LaravelTheme\\Exceptions\\themeAlreadyExists(code: 1): Theme default already exists at /home/name/domains/domainname.com/public_html/vendor/igaster/laravel-theme/src/Themes.php:136) And I concluded that I have to edit the theme.json in the new theme folder. I did that and uploaded it. Yet does the error stay. I did look into the database in the settingspart and in the field General_theme it still says default. The question is how do I fix this? Or do I completely start over? Greetings, RobB PS I just checked it, but I had uploaded a ver.php file in order to check php versions etc into the root of the site, but even that one gives that error.

  27. Hello, We are an offline VA with some 200 active members. We are looking for a (paid) developer who can take our web environment from Joomla 3 to phpVMS. Interested? Please reply or contact me via DM. Thanks, Stijn
  28. Quite possibly. I guess we will have to wait for the OP to respond to know for sure. And as your and I have previously discussed many times, any new VA's should be using phpVMS v7 - no wasting time by starting a phpVMS based VA using va5. 😵
  29. Probably OP is not talking about v7 (considering his other post he may be talking about v5.x)
