Hi Bluemax. That is a great idea and I am sure many will benefit from it. I am sure if you get with Nabeel about it he will tell you what you can do as far as offering it here on the forum.

Got any screen shots or links to what you are talking about if it is a members only area? And have patience. People will answer when they can. I assure you of that.

Yeah I figured that one out. In regards to Jonathan being on in the UK. There is a couple 2 or 3 European servers that I can see.

Well, in my squwakbox script, I have a drop down box with servers in it. Which one do you normally get on to? I am at a loss deciding which server I need to log on to there. If I can find you, I'll jump on and tune in for a bit and learn how the big VAT works. Maybe I can squeeze in a flight or two.

Hi guys and thanks for the replies. I logged on last night and listened to coms for quite a while. I have no issue flying online at all. I have got several hundred hours at Westcoast ATC, and the old eSkyWorld when it was on I had quite a few hundred hours on there with ATC as well, also I was a rated controller ( KZOB ARTTCC )there for 4 years. I guess the whole VATSIM thing though was and always has been kind of intimidating to me. Why I am not sure. I am looking to get on there in the next day or two and get a flight in. I am sure once I get the first one out of the way, it is all blue skies after that.

I am actually in a database class right now at school. Hopefully by the end of it I will be able to do some stuff and make it work. I guess the biggest catch for me is, it needs to be able to tell how long the atc was open for and also it needs to pay them for their services. As far as the skins go, I have them done.

Hey all. I have been simming online for years but refused to ever fly at VATSIM. Well, I have had a change of heart and as we speak, I am logged on to VATSIM monitoring radio COMS. Anyone have any friendly advice for a Vatsim virgin? Are charts mandatory to fly there? I know how to use SIDS and STARS so it is no biggie, was mainly curious. Any advice I can get I would love it. I would hate to log on and get banned my first flight for doing something wrong. I have heard time and time again about how picky they are there. Thanks Ray

Hi Tom thanks for the tips. I went to check the validity of another site of mine and I came to the conclusion on that one as well that I need classes as well as ID. So yeah, my css skills are getting better but still need loads of work. I am so used to doing stuff the old fashioned way with tables.

That actually is not a bad idea at all when you stop and think about it. What few pilots I do have seem to want to fly more free flights than anything. I love free flying but I think it is a royal pain when it comes to running a VA. This idea would force them to have to fly scheduled routes once they get closer to or to the $0.00 mark. So you are giving them the freedom to fly charters if they want, but if they want, it will cost them.

I agree guys. The support from Nabeel is great as well as this is one of the most helpful communities around as far as supporting and helping each other goes. I know I have and still do ask a bunch of stupid questions and no matter how stupid my questions seem to me, I always get a smart reply. Thanks everyone!

So I think I may be stuck redoing my entire css for the template I made. I removed the bit of code and it fixed that map problem but trashed the rest of the site. When I add it back in and edit it any which way I choose, the map problem still stands firm. Good thing this was a personal template and not a RC public version. Oh well, back to the drawing boards.

You should be able to get it at a real nice cut rate if your a student in college. I just got Adobe CS5 for under $260. Now that is dirt cheap. Sorry guys, I'll be quiet now. Back to the main topic already in progress.

It is. I flew at one online place and that was a standard there. Heaven forbid if you have little kids that need tending to or something like that. I know I have 3 of them running around here that are always coming in and getting me to help them do something. So yeah, I think an option for this would be ok but not mandatory. That would make many a pilots walk away from the VA and not look back. After all it is a video game and not real life. What we have here is nothing more than Mr. Rogers and the land of make believe. Really. But the keep it simple approach is real nice. Less is always more to pilots. The less they have to do, the more they love it. That was the one and only good feature that the original ACARS script did was import bid from the VA site and filled in info. One other important thing is accurate info for the live flight map. We all know good and well what I am referring to. FSFK, XACARS, and I am not sure of the others do not allow Nabeel to give accurate info. A script that would allow Nabeel to give the map accurate info would be great! Just my $0.02 Have a great night fellers!

Ok check it out now that I got rid of that content div from my css. It did fix that problem on the acars map though. **EDIT** Well, I put it back in for now so it looks right while I am tweaking other areas. I just can not make the site work at all without that bit in the css file.

Thanks for the kind words. This is my 3rd term at school so far. It is not bad at all, but sometimes I find the online stuff hard to do as far as school goes. In person is always better IMO. This template here that I showed you all is the one that I was working on for school. I got my school site built (with some much needed help from Simpilot)using every requirement that they had but in the end she told me I could not use it so I had to go with their generic looking site. Hi guys. Thanks for all the kudos. I did remove that bit of code and it pretty much fixed the problem, but it trashes my whole layout on the rest of the site. Pretty much that part of the css effects everything and anything inside of a content div. I really need to rework my css and get rid of that. I found that it effects so much of the template it makes it really hard to adjust anything at all.

Upgrading is normally a couple minute process and painless. I wonder if it is just the newest beta version that is the problem? That is why I have yet to upgrade to that release yet.

Do you use Airmail? If so, the pilot must be logged in to use it and you would know it was that pilot unless their account was hacked. Other then that, I would think a link that is inside of their pilot center would do. If not logged in you can not see the pilot center anyhow. Right now, I am not so sure about the code if you wanted to get fancy. That was just a couple patch ideas I had. Sorry I was of no more help.

Here is a peak at my first serious attempt at a VMS skin. I had help from Simpilot on some of the divs and css. So Kudos go to him from me. It is a plain Jane looking skin. Nothing fancy no extra bells or Whistles. So far the only thing I can find that is jacked up is the ACARS Map. I can not seem to scare up an answer to my problem with it. ****TEMPORARILY DOWN**** Will be back up shortly. This one would never be released to the public obviously. It is generic and plane. Now that I kind of know how to do it, I can start doing more.
