nabpp Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 can i use PHPVMS as a CMS platform for things other than flight sim? 9 Quote
Ariel Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 if you are asking for permission...i dont see why...if you are asking because you want to use it for something else other than flight simming i dont see why you would choose phpvms...not that phpvms is bad or anything...just its built for flight simming and its financials and management of pilots...what did you have in mind for the use phpvms aside for wat it is intended for!? magicflyer Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 Yes, PHPVMS can be used as a CMS platform. The Extracted CMS is also available on Nabeel's GitHub Repository. It is very easy to use and there has already been people who have used it. Make sure to abide by the current license of distribution (Creative Commons). Quote

Administrators Nabeel Posted January 24, 2013 Administrators Report Posted January 24, 2013 You can use it as a CMS in other places, no problem. But if you want to use the core framework (Codon), I'd actually advise against it - I won't be updating it for PHP 5.4+, and there are a lot deprecated things in use. If you're looking for a framework to hack on, I'd use either CakePHP or CodeIgniter. If I were to start phpVMS today, I'd probably go with Cake. But if that's not a concern either, go for it It's released under the MIT license 1 Quote
nabpp Posted January 24, 2013 Author Report Posted January 24, 2013 sorry im a bit confused what is cakephp? Quote

mischka Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 come on nab, lmgtfy is brilliant aside of that, I'm using phpvms for the new VA search engine that's currently under construction. Once you get your head around it, it's actually quite good piece of software to build on 1 Quote
Sava Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 I used it on a personal project or two as a CMS of choice. I pulled out all the not required files and folders, deleted the not required methods and created the ones I needed. Proved to be an excellent solution Quote
nabpp Posted January 26, 2013 Author Report Posted January 26, 2013 yea that is what i am planing on doing. and im assuming a lot of changing words around Quote
