Hi Folks, We updated our website last weekend and somewhere in the mix we seem to have misplaced our transfer hours. We uploaded the new site from the test server to a different directory and fine tuned it so as not to disturb the live site and then copied over the local config and changed the directory to go live. I have double checked the local config and the transfer hours in rank is set to true....what did I miss? Thanks

Thank you for your help Jeff. When we updated our site, the kACARS module must have been overwritten. Re-uploading it again put it right as rain.
-
A little progress...added missing files from original install now we get a root element missing error when connecting to the site. Also see that we cannot search flights from within the app.
-
We just finished uploading a new website but now our Custom KAcars will not connect. We get an unhandled exception error everytime. I have used this install of the custom KAcars for well over a year now with no issues. The web urls and root folders on the site are exactly the same. I am at a loss here. Help!! Chuck CYXU

I followed the link to your website and left a message a few days ago by using the Contact Us form. I have not yet received a reply. Are you still offering services? Thanks Chuck

Hi Folks, Just wondering if I am missing something here...I have four aircraft in my fleet that are stuck at 838 hours and have been for a few weeks now. They have been flown, pireps received and approved but the hour count remains the same. We are running Version 2.1.934. Curious, does this mean that we will not have to do any hourly scheduled maintenance on those aircraft? Chuck CYXU

Ah, I see...no worries!! Chuck

Downloaded and installed...now what? I have a pretty little app that doesn't do a whole lot. The File/Configuration doesn't work so I cannot set my server parameters or connect to the VA site. Since I cannot set parameters, I cannot login. Clicking on the Help button isn't much help either... Teething pains no doubt! Chuck CYXU But on a plus note, I can surf the net....

Starting to get kinda heavy. You're loosing me at the autopilot interface and web browser. Don't get me wrong, it's all cool stuff, I just question if some of this is needed for this purpose. I like the idea of being able to search the flight database and to be able to bid on a flight from within the app, but a built in browser? You trying to compete with Firefox now? I guess I am just a little too plain.... Chuck CYXU

Windows 7 has different paths as well. I usually put " Please Browse to your Flight Simulator 9 folder..." for location or "Please Browse to your Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder..." Chuck CYXU

Oh yeah, just did some checking....the VA trying to do the merger thing? 38 pilots with hours...25 zero time. We have 165 pilots active..and we have an extreme lack of activity? Ok, I feel better now! Chuck CYXU

I couldn't agree more about free hosting compared to a paid hosting service. I have used free hosting for development work before and it was horrible. As far as FSAcars goes, we have found that if you lay out exactly what a pilot should do, it works good. If they are supposed to do A,B and C, it works...if they do A,B, C and D...there could be issues. I have been working with FSAcars for over four years now and have gotten quite adept at pinpointing problems. Although Windows 7 has thrown me the odd curve lately!! Chuck CYXU

Hahahaha.. I like the way you think Nabeel!!!

If he saw it on VaCentral, where would he get the idea we had an extreme lack of activity? As of right now, we are ranked #5....that doesn't compute for lack of activity. No, his big thing was because we used a free pirep software.

Hi Folks, I was just wondering if anyone else received an email from another Virtual Airline offering a merger deal. I recently received and email offering a merger deal with benefits. It was stated that there was an extreme lack of activity at our airline....hmmm, over 4,000 flights and heading for 7,000 hours logged.... I emailed back wondering where he came up with this idea that we were failing...his reply was that since we used a free source pirep solution, we must be on our last legs and ripe for the picking. It is not my intent to turn this forum into a bashing session against another VA so I will not post the person's name or VA. If anyone were to pm me asking though, I would share the information.

Making routes that your pilots find interesting is part of building a successful VA. If we all started using bits and pieces of the same routes, were would the individuality come in that would make your VA special from any other? For making routes, I usually use either Excel or Open Office worksheets and then save them as a csv file. Chuck CYXU

Something else to be aware of. VaCentral does not tell you the status of a reported flight. It does not know if the flight is waiting approval, approved or rejected. It is possible that what you saw was testing of code by means of manual pireps that may or may not have already been rejected and awaiting deleting. I know it doesn't tell you if a flight has been rejected because I rejected a flight and it shows in our VA profile as a flight.

Furthermore, Alaska Airline moved from an old system to phpVMS. In order to transfer time over, I believe they are doing it by manual reports. Just because you see 20 pireps entered in one day does not need to mean that someone is cheating. More than likely, just getting caught up in paperwork. I agree with Nabeel, starting a thread such as this in an open forum, well, bad form chief. Chuck CYXU

You mean something like this?? The scale never goes above 10. Cheers, Chuck CYXU

So I take it that the pilot must choose to fly strictly passenger flights or Cargo flights then. He cannot move between passenger flights and cargo flights freely. He would have to be re-assigned in the admin panel each time he wants to change...correct? Chuck CYXU

With the graph that shows the pireps from the last week, can it be recoded so that it will auto-size? When you have more than ten pireps a day for most of the week, the graph is pretty much off the map. Chuck CYXU

In regards to excessive fuel usage, make sure you let your pilots know that they are not to park next to the default FS fuel depot when they arrive at their arrival airport. This will knock FSAcars for a loop and you will have fuel usage in the millions of pounds for just that one flight. Setting the parking brake not only stops the recording for FSAcars, but it also automatically refuels your aircraft if you are parked in the area of the fuel depot. Since the refuelling is an inside FS function, it gets done before FSAcars can capture your final fuel. If your final fuel is greater than that which you started.... ....millions of pounds. Just a heads up... Chuck CYXU

Hi Folks, I am attempting to create a new group to have someone else access the schedules and look after them. I created a new group called Route Manager and gave them permissions for Airlines, Fleet, Schedules, Import and Access Admin on my test server. I then assigned this to a test user I have in the database to see how the changes would affect the end user. I am able to access the admin section and the flight ops area, however I cannot do anything with the links in the flight ops area. The flight ops section expands when you click on it and the links to the different templates are there but clicking on them does absolutely nothing. I already did a search of the forum and tried clearing out the sessions table with no effect. I am running the latest beta as of this morning, Beta 815. Thanks, Chuck CYXU
