That is great Tom. I will have to have a look at this for sure.

Well mine is in my footer. You can put it in your main site navigation or side navigation too. What template are you using for phpvms? I guess it is all personal preference really where you put it. Feel free to click my sig to see mine in action in my footer. If you let me know where you would like it and what template you are using, I may be able to help. Please keep in mind though that the only templates I probably can help with is Obsessblue and default Crystal template. **EDIT** sorry my sig dont click. my url is http://thunderva.com

Here you go do this: <a href="<?php echo url('/staff'); ?>">STAFF</a> And that should do the trick.

That would be great! And on another note, I got rid of that editor last night and no new forums showed up today and no one was banned at all last night either. The va forum beta was hidden from public view as it was the second night it got hit. The only visible forum to public I have now is a SMF and it is fine as well. I would say with all testing that I have done, I pretty much can agree with you 100% Simpilot. Users do NOT add the easy editor outside of the admin area.

[solved] How do I connect my VA to VaCentral?
TAV1702 replied to James142's topic in General & Support
Glad you got it sorted out. -
using your ftp client change the config file from 644 to 666 after your install is done, change your local_config.php back to 644. You can do this in your ftp client by right clicking the file in question and going to properties. Here is a handy link that describes setting permissions. http://www.washington.edu/computing/unix/permissions.html

I am curious..... Is it possible to make it pay per minute? Or after an hour go to pay per minute maybe? Example. I just did a flight that was 1hr 57 minutes. It paid me for 1 hour. Kind of bogus since I was 3 minutes shy of 2 hours. Can you see why I ask this? I kind of just donated an hour of time for free. Not that it matters. The pilot pay is kind of useless right now anyhow on my setup. Now I could see if my flight was an hour and 3 or 4 or even 15 minutes to only get an hours pay, but 3 minutes shy of 2 hours and only get 1 hour pay? This got brought up to me by another pilot and I really never paid attention since the pilot pay does not matter to me. I am looking mainly for hours in my log book. However, to pilots, every little thing they get actually matters to them. They get cheap skated out of an hours pay and it is like a holy war! Just curious. Thanks for reading. Ray

Ohh nice. Im looking at my database and there was a javascript hack used on it. I will NOT post the script in here but Simpilot, if interested I will give you what info that I can. Now disabled on my site for now. Suggest you all do the same until Simpilot can come up with a fix if he so decides to.

Uhhh Houston, we have a problem! I logged in today only to find out that I am banned from posting in my own forum. Oh and so is everyone else. Anyone ever encountered this before?

[solved] How do I connect my VA to VaCentral?
TAV1702 replied to James142's topic in General & Support
did you go into your config file and setup your va central settings? That is step number 1. Check the documentation as well on this site and see if there is anything in there relating to VA Central. I am sure there is. -
[solved] How do i know if its a fake flight report or not?
TAV1702 replied to James142's topic in Support Forum
Nice one. that thought never even crossed my mind. -
There is a skin that was released here on site that has that feature built in to it. I am thinking you could find it and adapt the code to your skin. I tried it on another skin for the sake of just trying and it worked. I don't recall the name of the skin right now that had that feature. If I find it, I will come back and let you know.

I agree man. Images would be be cool. Simpilot deserves many, MANY kudos for his work. I would say if no images are possible to use, then a link could be added in a credits page or in the footer of your site maybe? I personally leave the copyright links in all of his scripts I use. I removed a couple from the airmail because they were breaking my layout for some reason, but it was only on 2 of the airmail pages I believe and the breaking of the pages was probably my fault to begin with. All the rest are intact. I might have removed them all and added a powered by simpilot group in my footer as well, I just never did. So they remain on each of his scripts. Great work deserves great kudos. I know this is a REAL late reply to this thread so feel free to give me a virtual slap. I just saw it had no replies and figured I would add my $0.02 in on it. Ray P.S. (for everyone in general) I just thought of another thing too, please do not demand anything from Simpilot. I know it happens and it sucks really bad. He has poured LOADS of hours into his scripts and gives them out free of charge just like Nabeel gives us phpVMS. Please don't demand. If he wants to update scripts he will, if not then enjoy them as they are. I bet if demands keep being thrown around, he won't do it much longer and that would really suck to the phpvms community as a whole.

[solved] How do i know if its a fake flight report or not?
TAV1702 replied to James142's topic in Support Forum
Well, that is the problem with allowing manual pireps. That goes on the honor system. You have absolutely no way of knowing if they flew the flight or not. Now that being said, you could make it so that if they file a manual pirep, that flight must be flown on a fshost server that you have admin access to. If you have a fshost server you can verify the flight if you have logs turned on. Other then that, you are simply taking the pilots word for it. And fake pireps do happen in spite of what the pilots say. I personally was going to get rid of the manual pireps links on my site but the problem is when using ANY ACARS device such as ACARS, XACARS, FS Pax, and FSFK things can and will go wrong and for some reason or other their flight will not upload to the website. Then what do they do if the manual pirep links are gone? I guess it is a situation of catch 22. You are dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. In the end, it is just a choice you have to make on how you wish to handle the situation. In case you go with the fshost choice, you can get it at http://www.chocolatesoftware.com Ray -
I don't know how this sneaked by me, but I may have to have a look and see how she works.

Here is one for the books. I just looked at a site that is REAL nice and well built. HE has spectacular hub pages for each of his hubs. The only thing I saw missing, was news. What I was thinking was, with the nice built in news feature that we have in phpVMS, it would be real sweet if the option was there to post news to the main page, or a specific hub. I was thinking that hub managers could run promotions like flyins and such for their hubs and post news in the admin section and choose whether it is global news (front page news) or specific to his/her ( politically correct ) hubs.
-
Kind of going down the same road that I was on with this whole thing. I was going to add a feature request on the dev site thing NAbeel uses but the recaptcha on that site hates me.
-
Would be sweet if we could figure out how to make it email or airmail a pilot and let him/her know their screenshots were approved. Like an auto send I guess. Not sure how difficult that would be to do. Would this be hard to trigger for airlines that use your Airmail script? Like an auto NOTAM from the main site admin. Nothing serious here, just curious.

Will this work with pilots that use FS Passengers?
-
It is all personal preference really. I don't know if the outlook for SMF is as good as it is for phpBB though future wise. phpBB is pretty much here to stay. I chose phpBB years ago and simply stayed with them, because I became an admin at a website the develops a CMS and has thousands of users. Once i became part of the group I just stayed with it. SO yeah man, do an install of both and see what you like better. Personally I like phpBB better but once again, it is personal preference.

Nothing in particular. Was just looking to learn. I have a guy that has been supposed to be doing them for me and he has given me 1 to put up on site in 6 months and it was not worth adding. Good thing me and him was good friends and I didn't pay him lol We have so dam many aircraft going in that it isn't funny. My VA kind of never took off (no pun intended) so now it is basically a free for all between me and 6 others. It is a fun site though none the less.

Hi guys sorry I am so dam slow lately on replies. Busy as hell now days. Haven't been around the vms site much at all lately. I'll get with everyone who wanted a pm. And I was looking for no aircraft in particular at all. I just was wanting to learn how to do it. I tried a couple times before and the results were a little less than desireable.

Ok that's cool I appreciate the effort. This is something I have been itching to do for years now but just never learned how to do it.
