Hi Nabeel. I am REALLY out of date. I am still on Version 2.0.874 Has there been a new stable since then I need to update to then upgrade from there? Or am I good to go as far as upgrading my current install to latest beta? As we all know I have ran into some major medical issues the last month or two and I have not been on a bunch or able to do any web work. I am so far behind if I start reading posts now, I might be caught back up to speed by tomorrow afternoon.

Well, went for my last scheduled hospital visit this morn and am well into a batch of my home brew and feeling fine. Lesson I learned long ago is do NOT work on a website buzzed. So I'm gonna let this one wear off a bit then jump on it! I hope all my doctor crap is over so I can get back with the program. Im am a few versions behind now and alll kinds of posts behind. gotta catch up on the latest info.

Gotta love real life sticking it's nose in our dam business! Ha ha ha And I'm not quite sure if my Home Brew is up to Belgium standards yet. I am working on it however. I am also in the process of building a social networking website like myspace for home brewers. It is REALLLY rough right now. Here is a link to my profile page. This is my project when not working on my VA site. But anyhow, yeah I REALLY need to get back up to speed with my VA and get the website updated. The template is killing me and it burnt me out. I can not skin or do graphics and that basically put's the stomps on a website real fast like.

I just wanted to swing by and say hello to all and see how things were going? I am about 4 or 5 beta versions behind now as time slips by me. I have been finding myself in the hospital and doctors offices now when not at work. Makes it kind of hard to work on a website or even fly for that matter. I do find an hour a week to brew up a new batch of home brew beer though. I hope to get back into the swing of things soon and I hope everyone here is doing well. Have a great day/night Ray

I have not gave this a try yet. I was wondering if it was going to be overwritten with updates and such is why I waited. I think it is really a great addon and am itching to give it a test try. Is it as simple as the link to it was overwritten maybe? Surely it don't get installed by editing phpVMS core files does it?

That is an option, but what if they can only gain access to the forums if logged in or something like that? Sometimes in life, people just can't fly and need to take a break or something might have gone REALLY wrong and they just want to login once in a while to say hello and keep track of what is going on. I really like the auto retire thing beings how I brought it up way back when and presto it was added, but to lock them out of site all together, well that definitely wasn't part of the equation when I cooked up that idea. My idea was if they did not file a pirep in an amount of time they go inactive (retired), and in the future when life permits, they could log back in, book a flight, and off they go. Now sure they can file a pirep using ACARS or FSFK or something, but how can they book a flight or get the correct flight info if they can't login to the website? That may be a small issue beings how acars needs correct aircraft reg and all that to send a pirep or it errors out. DanC has a very good point. Now days so many VA's are out there so why jump through hoops when all you have to do is type in a search in browser and off they go to another VA. Just a couple quick thoughts. I'll jump back on the side now and take a shut up break for a while.

yeah, it is sweet. I use it. And the statement is correct. If you do not set it up exactly how it needs to be, then let the hair pulling begin. Follow that tut to a T and you should be fine.

Yeah I would ditch it and at least move up to XACARS

Yeah the manual filing thing would shaft those of us who use FSFK, PAX, ACARS, and XACARS for sure. And I have pondered getting rid of manual filing as well, EXCEPT, not all of us can afford to purchase FSFK and we all know how NOT stable ACARS and XACARS really is. MANY a flights before fsfk use, I had to go and file manually due to acars not working correct and I had to reinstall it. Find an answer to that little ditty and I would suppose I would ditch manual pireps as well.

I've used phpBB for years now. The only issue I ever had was their security in 2.x really sucked. Hopefully V3 is much better. I hate V3 and no longer code any mods for phpBB or integrate any, but I still use it as a board. And I have not been around to check the email issue from here. I suppose it's been a week or so since I been on here. My last visit was during the move I suppose.

Boy I tell ya, I have a snow day from work today and I am sitting at home, drinking a home brew, fiddling with my VMS install, and dj'ing on the air. Fun times eh? No body told me there would be days like these. Happy flight simming all!

Right now on my website, I have switched back to the deafult Crystal template for various reasons also relating to my skinning post. As it stands right now, it says here have been 5 user(s), and 2 guest(s) online in the past 60 minutes. That one is cool I can live with that. However, if I switch it to show names it says There have been 5 user(s) in the past 60 minutes. Robert Kunz Robert Kunz Kevin Wiley Ray Browell Matt Dirck And in my table in my database, it only shows 1 user session and I am guessing that is due to me being the only one logged in at that time I checked the db

Yeah I just cleared all of the tables out and optimized everything. Let me go take a peak at the table for it. How it is happening is every time one logs off and then comes back and logs back on within the hour, it does that. **NOTE** Nabeel, please see my thread in Skinning. It may or may not be directly related to what I put in that post.

Not sure if this was a skinning question or general support. As you all know I have been around for a few 3 or 4 months now and loving every minute of it so far. Now when I update, I look at the change log and it shows what templates were changed, but it does not say exactly what needs to be changed. I might be missing something some where. that I am not sure. Now talk about feeling like a complete newbie. I am running my template with minimal updates to it that I was running way back from october or november of last year. I fear it is so far out of date now, I need to copy a fresh crystal template and rename it and start over.

upped your Karma for the great advice piper Anyhow, yeah what he said. You should never edit the default skin as it will get over written in updates and then all your hard work is gone forever. Do like he said and copy your template folder and rename it then upload it again. Now you need to go in and change the setting in your admin panel to your new skin name. Save. Now if you make any edits to the css file in your new copied skin, It will not show up until you change the path to your css file in the header. That link that piper posted is your best bet.

I may just need to fix my templates, but I still am showing the same user online like 3 and 4 different times at once. Like it will say Users Online Kermit the Frog Kermit the Frog Kermit the Frog Ray TAV0001 Carrie TAV0004 I might not have ever got my templates updated or something if this has been fixed. While I am on the subject, .....Nope...... I will go to skinning and ask. Thanks all for reading Ray

If you want an idea of what I am referring to, you can visit http://www.livewireairlines.com and log in as a demo user. As soon as you do, you will notice a marquee at the top above the nav. I have been a member there for a good while now, but the owner has fallen ill or had a stroke or something like that and only gets on from time to time so I have no way of finding out how he pulls this info I am after. That site is NOT phpVMS though. It is all his own code. Some cool stuff there, but the VA 10 years later is kind of stale.
