I'm moving phpVMS to github: http://github.com/nshahzad/phpVMS It shouldn't make too much of a difference, except now it'll be easier for me to manage since now you can more easily fork and develop. For instance, you can do: git clone http://github.com/nshahzad/phpVMS.git phpvms Which will create the latest phpVMS in the "phpvms" folder, and you can work on your phpVMS install as normal (not modifying any core files). But when updating comes (for things like betas), to update, you can simply: cd phpvms git pull And it will automatically download and update that phpVMS copy to the latest one, and you just have to run the install/update.php file. Some cool…

Hey everyone, This is probably a weekly to a few times a week writing gig, not paid. It'll be for the vaCentral blog - just basically handling VA, flight sim, and aviation related news. I really want this to be a central point for the community. This will look good on a resume - phpVMS is a high-traffic site, and with the introduction of vaCentral, your writing will be exposed to a-lot of viewers and traffic. It'll be pretty open-ended - reviews, VA news, publishing press-releases, analyzing some trends and stuff, and also being a liaison to the community. I can't handle this portion by myself. Let me know if you have some interest, prior experience will rock. I'm open…

Atlassian has granted phpVMS a license to their Jira bug tracker. The old bug tracker (Trac), was starting to get spammed. Those of you who have account on Trac might be receiving an email about an account being setup, so don't be alarmed. I am just moving the data over to the new tracker. As a result of this, any add-on developers who also want a 'project' under this new tracker system can apply for one, and I will set you up with a project under it, as a Project Manager with it. The advantage being that it makes it much easier for phpVMS users to report bugs and get resolutions, and allowing you to streamline your own efforts and not have to find, setup, and manage your…

Hi all, To add a bit of organization to the modules madness, module/addon authors can add their modules to the downloads section above. It'll automatically create a topic in the Addon forum as well. If you have a bunch of add-ons you'd like grouped together, shoot me a message, and I can create a sub-category for you and restrict the uploads only to you.

vaCentral/phpVMS now have an official FSHost server, kindly provided by Mark Grant of easyJet VA. The hostname is "fshost.vacentral.net", and the IP address can be got from the vaCentral homepage at http://www.vacentral.net. Your VA is welcome to fly, along with the over 200 airlines which are currently participating in vaCentral. Hope to see you online!

After a few months of long work, over 120 revisions and code check-ins, I’m proud to say the latest version of phpVMS has been released! Some of the new things you’ll find: * Revamped admin panel * Complete financials * FSPax export support * Download manager * Numerous requests and improvements I would highly recommend reading the changelog, and the update guide, to wrap around all of the improvements and changes. There are many little pieces. As usual, post any questions in the forums. Thanks to everyone who’s been helping with the bug testing and reports! Over 25 VA’s participated in testing in one way or another, which was pretty awesome! E…

Hi everyone! The 2nd alpha version is available for people to test and play with: Download: https://github.com/nabeelio/phpvms/releases/tag/v7.0.0-alpha2 Docs: http://docs.phpvms.net The biggest changes are that PHP 7.1 is required now. There are tons of bug fixes and extra features, which are documented in the changelog, and some things to make things easier, based on feedback. Bugs, etc, should posted in the issue tracker on Github. The next release will be a beta version, with finances working, and hopefully finalized all features for a major release. No, I don't have a timeline *NOTE* ATM, there are no ACARS compatible. The API won'…

Hi everyone! After many months of work, the first alpha is available. Download: https://github.com/nabeelio/phpvms/releases Docs: http://docs.phpvms.net Do note that at least PHP 7.0 is required, with htaccess and mod_rewrite enabled by your host. Right now, the main focus is ensuring the installer works on a variety of hosts, and all the basics are working as expected. Suggestions to make skinning, modules, widgets, and documentation updates are all welcome - please post in the appropriate subforum in the 7.0 section of the forum. Bugs, etc, can be posted in the #development channel on Discord, though I will likely ask you to create issues in the…

Hi all, With Hurricane Sandy on her way, there is a possibility of phpVMS and vaCentral being down, with the datacenter being located in New Jersey. If this happens, ensure that your site has the VACENTRAL_ENABLE set to 'false' in the local.config.php, until the site is back up. Let's hope it's just the weatherman being wrong! Nabeel

Took long enough for this next build, right? Well sorry about that guys! Had a little too much going on for the past few months. But here it is, RC1. Alot of changes. I recommend a clean install. Hi all, As you've definately noticed, phpVMS and vaCentral have been down. While I'm still tracking down the cause, I believe it to be malicious in nature. As of now, avatars and forum attachments are unavailable, until the backup recovery completes. The documentation above is also unavailable until some certain pieces of data are recovered. I don't have an ETA on the completion of recovery. But, over the next few weeks, I will be bringing back online vaCentral and the main phpVMS site - while I'm not sure of any data loss, I don't believe there to be any. I will keep you all in the loop of far as the progress. Thanks all for your patience.

The project wiki page is located at:http://www.phpvms.net/wiki/homeThis will be more populated as we decide on details, and other aspects of the project. This will remain as the "defacto" resource, also for people who would want to tinker with the code to customize, or for people who would be interested in writing modules (more information to come on this later).Project specs, etc, are all listed here, as they'll be used to guide us during the project. It's left as "read-only" for general users.Unfortunately, phpBB doesn't have an RSS function, so we encourage you to also sign up on the mailing list. We will use it to post new announcements, though they'll also be cross po…

A topic has come up about basic security for phpVMS files and folders, to prevent the theft of your template files. It's important to read this in the documentation. The documentation link is: http://forum.phpvms.net/page/index.html/_/administrator-guide/securing-files-and-directories-r35 And the thread is: http://forum.phpvms.net/topic/3266-securing-directories Thanks to all those who brought it up. I'd recommend applying the .htaccess file immediately, or if your host has .htaccess files disabled, how to go about securing those files.

A small patch to fix a security flaw has been released; it applies to version 2.1.934 and below. It doesn't apply to any of the beta versions. Replace the admin/index.php and admin/action.php files. Thanks for Jacob Axford for finding and bringing the flaw to my attention. The updated version is now 2.1.935. Nabeel

Everything should be back up and working. If not, wait a little while. The DNS may not have propagated yet (there's a ton of subdomains). Thanks

Hi all, I'm aware of the site's sluggishneses lately - vaCentral has been blowing up! It's a great thing. With that, I'm in the middle of rewriting vaCentral, based on nodejs instead of PHP, along with optimizing a ton of things, and a new design. It's tough finding time in between my 70+ hour work weeks, but it's in progress, and I haven't abandoned y'all

Sneak Peak

A sneak-peak of the new admin panel, just to get your juices flowing Alot of your requests have made it in - deleting PIREPS and 'retiring' aircraft. Oh, and FSACARS can pull the latest bid now and fill in the data . Most importantly, the entire thing is noticeably faster, I spent a lot of time optimizing. Still a few more things to do, so I don't know when it'll be out just yet. Still have a buncha testing to do, as well as baking in a few more cool things! Happy New Years! sneak_peak.png

I'm moving to The Planet this week, and bringing a dedicated database server online, in anticipation for vaCentral, and phpVMS growing. So there might be some sporatic downtime over the next week or so.

Recently, the latest version of phpVMS was released. With this new version, there have been over 120 installs, bringing the total install base to over 250 VAs. While not all are active, most have deployment plans for the next 4-6 months. This all brings the future plans of phpVMS to a head. Now that there are financials, this beings the next stage - a virtual airline economy. Designs are underway, to link every phpVMS install to a central stage - bringing everyone's profits, finances, passengers, loads, all into account, to a central area for ranks and more, to build a virtual airline industry. This is has all begun in the planning stage, and details are being worked ou…

A new section has been added with tutorials, more will be added as they are created: http://www.phpvms.net/tutorials If you can create video tutorials, I will post them up, especially if you understand some aspect of the system Roger is working on skinning, I'll do a skinning tutorial as well, and also a tutorial on how some aspects of the systems work.

Hi all, Sorry about the downtime yesterday, had some server updates, and Thursday end up being the more quiet day There's an update out now to 2.1, pushing it to 2.1.933. There are various fixes in this update, the major ones being fixes to how pilot pay is calculated (alot more accurate now), allowing the use of 7 for Sunday on imports, and other fixes with hours, and some admin stuff. For details, you can check out the Build Log forum, it gives the bug numbers of all the fixes. Thanks all, happy flying

After thinking about it for some time, I have decided to change the license for phpVMS to the much simpler BSD 3-clause license. Development has pretty much stopped as my work schedule gives me almost no time for side-projects, so hopefully this fosters more forks and development, which I will be happy to merge back into the mainline branch(es). Hello all, A few years ago I started a virtual airline search engine, and quite a few of you joined up for it. Now I've reworked the website and added quite a few new features to www.virtualairlines.eu You can now submit your schedules and pireps to virtualairlines.eu with the same API you use for vacentral, It takes literally 5 minutes to change and you get the following benefits: Have your flight stats included with your listing in the search engine, to show how active your airline is. A free fuel API, so you can display your fuel data on your pilot briefing (costs 20 bucks elsewhere) Contribute to the biggest schedule database, where pilots ca…

Hi y'all... vacentral will stay up until Dave's server goes down. I'm not sure when that will be (supposed to be today, I think). It's not going away forever - just temporarily. The main problem is that this server (with the forum) is running PHP 7.1, and that runs on PHP 5.3 Instead of updating it, I think I'm just going to leave it "off" for now, until I can figure out a migration plan that leaves compatibility with phpvms 2.x and the upcoming 4.0. There are a lot of components to it, so it would take me a while to figure out how to do the upgrades and all. I have to re-do the main phpvms page, since I haven't moved that over yet either.

It's finally open! I've opened up registrations for everyone running beta build 821 or later. There still might be some issues, but I guess that's the purpose of a beta. I'm still adjusting many things, including the rankings, but the data exports, etc, should all be working. Enjoy the friendly competition The site is: http://beta.vacentral.net There's also a dedicated board towards the bottom of the page, enter any issues there. Thanks!

vaCentral has been updated, and still ongoing with improvements (I've got a pretty long list, but this is a start!). Let me know if you have any trouble or issues.
