Hi Mark. I have gotten in to the Bios and set it to boot from cd rom. that is why it is amazing to me that it is not booting from the cd at all. No matter what cd I try. I also do not have the option in the bios to boot from a usb device. There is no floppy on the laptop. It is actually only about 3 or 4 years old. All it has is the dvd drive. I even went so far as to grab a live ubuntu cd and tried to boot from it with no luck either. I know the cd rom does work. I saw it in working condition before this whole fiasco. I have literally tried everything I can think of I can get no further than the Grub rescue prompt.

Folks I have an issue here I need a hand with. I have aquired a laptop that I really did not want anything to do with. Long story short, the kid had it and it had Windows Xp on it. Not sure what or how he did it, but he installed Ubuntu. Not sure what version. Then he decided he hated Ubuntu and did a fdisk and deleted every single partition. Now the laptop will not do anything. When it boots it goes directly to error: no such partition Grub Rescue> the only command that will work is ls when typing that it shows (hd0) and then goes back to Grub Rescue> the other command that works is set and when trying that it says prefix=(hd0,1)/boot/grub root=hd0,1 grub rescue> I set the bios to boot from cd. It will not boot any cd what so ever. I have no option at all from booting via a usb drive. So I pretty much have a laptop sitting here that will do absolutely nothing at all. I have searched every forum I could find and they all tell me how to fix it with a working partition on the drive. Duhhhh! It will not boot from a cd for me to create a working partition. lol All it will do on boot is do this error: no such partition Grub Rescue> I am in dire need here folks. I am hoping one of you linux gurus can help me. I want it gone and when it is, I need to be able to reinstall windows so I can ship this PC off to my daughter and call it good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ray

Ok I gave this a go and I can not get it to show anything on the profile page. I can enter the text in the about me section of the edit profile page and I get the same results as before. Nothing is showing after I submit.

Someone may be coming out with their own that is supported. The one I have been updating and releasing is not mine. It is Jacob's that he abandoned long ago. Mark1million and I have been working on it on and off for a while. If that is the one you are using, I know about it and can help some, but as I said, it is not my mod. I have that planned to try and make work. I just have not got around to it yet. Since it is not my mod, I only work on it when I can and put out the changes. BUT that is on my to do list. Not sure if I can or ever will be able to get that to work though.

Hey Mark, I got thinking about it some. If we make it a field in registration as the code suggests as a custom field, then the person will never be able to update their about me ever again. Thus the need to be able to update the database from the edit profile page. Am I looking to far into your suggestion?

I'll have to take a peak at that mark. That is much longer and drawn out then mine, but probably the best way to do it. I really am having issues working with this whole codeon module style to be honest. Funny how I can code a php website from scratch and make it run flawless, but I have so much trouble here. Dealing with a couple issues here at home with one of the young'uns right now. As soon as I can here in a bit, I will dive in to this. Thanks Mark!

Hi Guys. I have had a VERY bad couple days and not been on the PC. I do plan on having this fixed today. I was actually able to query the db on submit. However, it is not updating with what I type in the box. So at least it is connecting. Maybe something with the value or what ever I am trying to do. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Hey I have this in it's entirety. I can not get the about me to populate the database though. If someone can toss a query at me that I can try, I will give it a go. I hate to give out the code and it not work. If I can't get it to work, I'll scrap it. Nahh probably not, but I would love to show you all a working product.

I hadn't got to mess with it today at all. I plan on working on it in the morning. I just had to much going on today.

I have this all working now. BUT for some reason when I submit, it is not updating the database. My query is wrong or something. If I go in phpMyAdmin and edit the aboutme field, it shows on the profile just fine. Back to work on this dang query.

I have added it to the edit profile tpl file as well as got the database in order. I did get side tracked before I was able to finish it though. I forgot I had a class today. Last one of the term for me. I will get back on it tonight if able.

I shut the rank image off in config for signature and now I can accept pireps. However, no matter what size I set the avatar to in the config file, I can not add an avatar to a profile at all. v2.1.934-153-g822a0b9

This problem has come up again for another person and now I am getting it as well. It does not happen on my live site. Only on my test site.

We need to come up with a way to do this so that no core files are edited at all. I know this way is the best way, but I hate getting my files over written in updates. I suppose we could write up a module for it, but that much work for a simple about me field is almost overkill I'm guessing. Now maybe if we added a little to it like simple profile comments or something like that...... It would sweeten the deal up some.

Please allow our users here time to answer you back. If in an emergency, a bump a couple days alter may be in order, but minutes later is not going to get you anywhere real fast. All the users here have a life outside of the website here and freely give their time and effort when they are on. Patience is a virtue. Wait and see! Waiting over....... You can add any extra pages you want to do. It is real easy. Simply go in the admin panel and click on the link called Pages. You can use the html editor to add code if your page is more than simple text. If you wish to add ANY php or special links like we use in core_nav, create your page and simply save it. Then open that page in Dreamweaver or editor of your choice and edit it otherwise special urls and php will not stay in the added pages. The path to the added pages is public_html/core/pages Presto! Enjoy your newly added page.

This is an old issue. A quick search revealed the problem. This should be fixed in one of the new releases. What version are you running? If all else fails, upgrade to a beta release. I know for a fact they do not give that error on registration. Also, I found another answer when searching. Look for a post by mark1million. It said something about this error and he fixed by shortening urls to images or something.

Yeah and you know where I got that idea from too Mark It was a good idea they came up with. I might have to have a look in to trying your idea and see what happens. I suck REAL bad at cron jobs though. I rarely to ever used them. I could probably throw some code together in the maint area.

Nice one! Now is this ONLY after a pilot has been marked as retired? What I am after is, if pilot registers and does not fly for 7 days after, they get deleted. I already have my config set to retire them after a no flight for 3 months.

What version of phpVMS are you running? Did you do the stable install then the upgrade? If you could, please go in to your admin control panel and in the lower right hand corner, copy the version and paste it here.

I know this has come up before but my search is coming up blank. I may be a bit tired today. I am wondering if there is a code snippet or a release out there that will auto prune users who have registered and have not filed a flight within X amount of days. I know we can auto retire pilots, but this is different. If someone has time to register, why not the time to fly a flight within a week? If they don't have time for at least one flight in a week, they should get pruned. Easy task manually for small dead airlines, but what about busy airlines? Anyone got anything like this?

I have been working on this mod again the past couple weeks trying to get it fixed up. I have fixed many problems with it and completely re wrote the install doc for it. I still have a ways to go though. I am working on supressing those errors and having it tell the person what is actually going on like sry you need to create a shop type or something like that. That mod is full of piss poor coding. It is almost a waste of time, but yet at the same time it is a good start on a great add on. I do give Kudos to the kid for trying though.
