Hi Simpilot. Is it possible to make it so when viewing messages sent it does not show the entire conversation? How about make it so that it shows like the first 25 characters or so and a link that says read more or something of the such. For example, I sent one message to a guy and when I went in to my sent mail folder, the one message scrolled for like 2 pages. Yikes! Could you imagine having like 10 or 15 messages in there?

Just curious if anyone has ever skinned their sites Down For Maintenance page to match their site and if so was it easy to do? Or can it even be done?

You bring up some very good points. I don't do exams either, maybe except for ATC but that would be it. And yeah, life does get in the way quite often. That is why time restrictions at VAs suck in my opinion. So I can't fly this month and I'm fired? Uhhhh no! Sorry. I agree with your pilot Cor. When it looks and feels like work, it is time to get paid for doing it. After all this is just a video game. What we have here is nothing more than Mr Rogers and the land of make believe. And like was said, drop links everywhere and do PR and cross fingers. The old Kevin Costner movie quote "If you build it, they will come" does not always come true sadly enough.

Sounds like you got a good thing going on for sure. Does it charge the pilot Pilot Pay to transfer? And slimming down the schedules to only the airport he or she is at will help out on server load times I am sure as the realschedule, which is a great addon, shows all airports no matter what.

HI. Yeah I need to get my changes to him so he can update the file and download. I have been swamped with life in general lately like 3 kids and an old man going to college. lol It can get rough real quick. Not to mention I am running a very small scale brewery at the same time. Just moved up to 4 100 gallon fermenters and have got 2 of them in operation. Most of the changes I made were for the good of the package. Any personal choice changes I left out of the package. Why? Well because they fit my VA needs and not necessarily everyone elses. Let me see what I can do tonight and maybe I can get the files to mark1million for update. No promises but I will try.

Uhhhhh Yeah. What amcpilot said. I think you might have only looked at his modules site. You need to have a peak at some of the sites he has built for others as well as his own such as Virtual ACA. Simpilot is top notch in what he does. He does quality work that is pretty much second to none.

A friend of mine brought his sisters Dell ( oh now I feel sick ) over here for me to fix for her and I laughed and he asked me what was that is exactly what I pointed out to him Nabeel. Our phones now are more powerful then that PC he brought here is. He was like yeah I don't doubt it. I was like yeah there can be no doubt to it. It is hard core fact.

It is REAL hard from what I gather. I have saw some VAs open the doors and immediately get hundreds of people and then others work on their site for months and open the doors and fizzle out within a month or two. People tend to stay away from fictional airlines and join real world cloned VAs. Why I don't know, it is just what I have observed over the years I have been doing this. I would say to go hang out at VATSIM or other big flying places and make some buddies then spread the word. Back links on the net help too. Get your site as high up on google as you can. Other then that, I don't know because I can never seem to get pilots either. I guess I still do this because I like working on websites. Other then that, I would have gave in a long time ago and just joined a VA and called it good.

Has anyone using this skin got the pilots and guests online to work? I have done everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. I even copied clean code right from the crystal skin and still a no go.

That is my situation to Lorathon. I do the same thing so many ways I loose track of the way it should have been done then never go back and organize. Maybe one of these days I will get my head on straight and fix it all. My code on my files is just plain old messy at it's finest.

Pilots do not have to bid on flights. It has advantages, but it is not required. The one thing about them bidding on the flight is, if you so choose in your config file, you can remove from bid once a pilot bids on the flight so another pilot can not. Drawback to that is, if you have two pilots wishing to fly together and do the same flight, one can do the flight and the other can not unless he or she files a pirep manually. I would play around with it and the settings in the config file to find what works best for your airline needs. As far as flying unscheduled (free) flights goes, check out the FAQ forum on this site.

Oh and if not already, the forum is going to need pagination when viewing topics and posts. As you are well aware of, on a busy forum, these pages would get REAL long and put a strain on a server. I feel it is better to include it in the package rather then having web admins having to build it them selves and come and hassle you like I would for support to get it to work. Saves everyone a major headache in the end.

Oh I am not so sure nobody noticed yet. Maybe they just have not been mentioned yet because someone knew you had hands full with other things on the forum lol. Nah it's all good chief. I am just finding little bitty things here and there and taking note and dropping the notes in here every so often. I know I hate when I am working on something and someone gives me a list a mile long. It gets frustrating. I prefer to break things down in to smaller, simpler steps. That way it keeps one from getting in to burn out stage and happy because they see goals being met. Great job so far. The forum is great and works a treat.

Ok 1 last thing on this one. After looking at and admiring the table that finally works with help from other peers here, I have decided that the black text for the status has got to be changed to red or green depending on the status of the pirep. The million dollar question is do I shade the whole background of the status or just change the text color? Is this done via the CSS file? Or is it hard coded in the tpl file? I have tried a couple different ideas and came up with errors. I know this is so simple I am gonna smack myself int he face when I find the answer or someone graciously offers it up.

Ok so I have procrastinated and never worked on the mouse over yet. It is coming soon. However, I have fully skinned the forum and it is looking good. One thing I did notice is that when you post in the forum, it takes you back to the topics page. That is a bit un accurate. It should take you back to the thread that you just posted in. Why? I think forum makers cater to lazy peoples needs. If it takes you back to your post and you review your post and find a mistake, that is one less mouse click then having to click and view the thread and then click again to edit. The internet if FULL of lazy people and this is one way that forum creators cater to their needs. Nothing major, just something to look in to.

Here is food for thought. Guest Account..... Demo mode. Maybe controlled in the admin panel of what rights the account has and what it dont. Such as can not change password or email, well cant edit anything for that matter. Then it would be up to those that run a VA Forum Beta by Simpilot and Tom or a gallery to NOT allow them to post or upload pics or anything. I have been asked several times if people could get a demo account to look and see if it is what they are after and I tell them no. I think it is a very bad idea without controls on what they can and can not do though. We all know what could be the result of that. ;-)

I do recall him mentioning that as well. Not sure what came out of it to be honest. Except I think his showed if guys were online or offline at Vatsim. You can view it on the ACA site in action.

Did you go file a bug report for Nabeel? It seems to me the pilot should not get the cash for a rejected flight.

Providing he does not suck at graphics as bad as I do. I think that image is a real good staring point though as you have pointed out to him.

I don't think that will cause any issues. I have had this on my site for a good while now, well since Simpilot released it, and I never did away with bidding on flights. Both systems work on my site just fine. I know it defeats the purpose having both systems but a few of us liked one way while others liked the other way.
