You should be thankful you can't see Papyrus lol! There's a whole movement against it, I think it's hilarious. http://www.papyruswatch.com/

+1, don't use FSACARS. kACARS is better. You can also use payware alternatives such as FS Flight Keeper.

That's why I asked, I figured if NE Virtual was no longer operating then maybe other could benefit from this awesome looking module!

Any chance your stance on this has changed in the last 18 months? I started developing a charter center, then I saw your demo on your website, so figured I'd try my luck asking before essentially trying to recreate the exact same thing. Thanks!

There is an airport SQL file floating around the forum somewhere, containing all airports in FSX. I imported it, but I actually cut all 3-digit airports to alleviate pressure on the database at my last host. I haven't gotten around to uploading it again now we're on fivedev. That should save you a bunch of time if you can find it.

Yes, I actually have to look at airTV some more. My biggest "concern" is sending position reports with the PIREP.

I'm currently running the trial version of FS Flight Keeper and everything uploads fine and works great thanks to me following Keith's tutorial on how to set it up correctly. The two things that aren't working are the uploading of images and position reports. A quick test flight shown here shows what I mean, a blank google maps, bar the departure and arrival airfield: http://www.unityvirtual.net/index.php/pireps/viewreport/1218 Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know if this is due to the limitation of the trial version? I'll be buying the full version within the week, so hopefully will figure it out for sure then.

You can enter it through phpMyAdmin or the command line, whichever you prefer. I haven't tried to add a 3-digit ICAO through the admin center.

Rephrase....and no, I'm afraid there isn't a free version for this available.

Click the link to Flickr above and in the right column it tells you. Any of those next to an image, except for Attribution, means you can freely use them. If you look at individual images, at the bottom of the right column is the license. You can always email the photographer and request permission to use it unattributed, of course.

Search google for "public domain images" and you'll find some great websites from official US Government websites, to charities, airlines themselves, etc. Add the type of image you are looking for outside the brackets when you search and it'll narrow your search down. Good examples of public domain websites are wikipedia, which mandates that all images used are in the public domain and certain other well-known websites such as Flickr have a system where authors can allow their images into the public domain (http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/). Other than that, you're talking free stock websites, which to be honest, do not have the greatest quality images--although there are of course a few great ones if you are willing to pick through the mud.

I'm revisiting this issue. Does anyone else have any idea how to achieve this? It's had me stumped for awhile now and I'm close to admitting defeat!

Ideal Minimum Rank Hours - Your Opinion?
tutmeister replied to freshJet's topic in Virtual Airlines Discussion
We have 4 categories, broken into roughly the following: turboprop, small turbofan, medium turbofan, large turbofan. Our hours to gain access to each category are 0, 10, 50, 250, respectively. We feel this is an attainable goal for most people. This follows a real pilot's career progression; a new pilot wouldn't jump in a 747 and be off cruising to Australia. However, it also serves as a measure of protection for our VA, as we also [are allowed to] fly on VATSIM and must abide by their regulations. -
I too would love a simple collection. Just for interest, a simple way to find (not necessarily in date) charts is to search google with the following term: airport diagram "KJFK" filetype:png Just change KJFK to whichever ICAO code you are looking for. Most popular airports are available somewhere like that.

I have two ideas I'd like to create or see created for phpVMS: A type-rating system. There are various ways to implement one. Hours- based on how many hours in a smaller aircraft, manual award - based or review of a flight, auto-award - based on completion of a route and approval of the associated PIREP. Can anyone think of a better way? A training system Either through the route system, having a person fly certain routes in order to be eligible for promotion, or separate from the route system, where pilots have to satisfy exams along with hours flown in order to eligible for promotion. I'm not sure if simpilot's examcenter covers this, if it does let me know and I apologize!

Uhm, yes he in fact did mention he was someone else as quoted above by James.

Are you sure your different person, because I hear the same tone in the requesting of free stuff from people here. Everyone here started at some level on the learning curve and picking up a copy of GIMP and learning how to create your own stuff is what you need to be doing to become a successful CEO, not asking the nice people here to develop everything for you. Your predecessor did the same thing and had a bad reputation because of it. I'd suggest you don't go down the same path my friend, or even simple questions will end up unanswered.

Search for datatables, that is what it uses and yes, it is jQuery-based. It is fast and reliable and easily skinnable too.
-
We have it too, so far it is a very cool module to own. It's probably not worth 50 bucks, but that is what is charged for it and as I couldn't code this myself, it's capitalist monopoly at its best haha!

You can actually achieve this by changing your init code to include the following: "sDom": '<"top"i>rt<"bottom"flp><"clear">' More information on this can be found here. You might also want to look at the API to see what can be done to customize your datatable.So your basic initialization should look like the example below to get it working how you want it to. It will require a little CSS tweaking, as the default example falls half-way through the footer section. $(document).ready(function() { oTable = $('#dataTables').dataTable({ "bJQueryUI": true, "sPaginationType": "full_numbers", "sDom": '<"top"i>rt<"bottom"flp><"clear">' }); } );

Ha, well I'm <i>incredibly</i> grateful, thanks Nabeel!

This could be due to an issue with reCAPTCHA. As it requires people to complete two words, one of which is known and the other is unknown, the system only validates you against the known word and places your answer of the second word into a pool, where if enough people validate that second word the same, it now becomes a known word and can be introduced into the system. If you're still following me, what has happened as certain groups of hackers have worked to make reCAPTCHA believe certain words are correct, when in fact they are incorrect, making it harder and harder on us to pass the damn thing. This is well-documented here. It makes life very annoying for those of us who actually want to help reCAPTCHA's cause while having a good Turing test on the website. <div><br></div><div>Edit: I have just registered with Test Tester at your site, so it seems to be working correctly and so I do think that the above issue might be the cause. Please delete my account with your airline, thanks.</div>

Doesn't phpVMS have this functionality built-in? http://www.example.com/index.php/pireps/

Uhm, we are all already members of a VA, otherwise we wouldn't be on this forum...

Great, thanks Mark!
