Go to the core>templates folder locate news_newsitem.tpl, and remove the following: <p>Posted by <?php echo $postedby;?> on <?php echo $postdate;?></p> save it and upload it to your active skin folder, as the templates folder will get overwritten in an update.

There is no real easy way, to do this. There is always a chance of losing some data in the process of moving. The best way to do it, is right before you physically move the files over, take a download of the db, and download the site, and then upload it to the new server. Also notify your pilots that there may be down time while you move servers.

Well obviously if you dont want to edit the default. But a fair amount of people do, they want to use phpvms as a base system, and customise it totally.

Alternatively find the code that controls the pilots list, and change the query that it contains, and set it from order by pilot_id to hours.

The flight time is there to give your pilots an estimate of how long the flight will be. It can be longer or shorter in real life. As the hours do not take into account taxiing time, weather enroute, or delays you may have. It kind of does, but you could have a long wait at an airport, due to a high level of traffic wanting to depart at the same time. So it will delay you.

If you are going to cheat you are more likely to give yourself more hours then it says. I had one guy file a flight that lasted 11hours 20minutes, the flight distance is just over 200nm. And he claimed to have flown a 737-400. Obviously that is going to be a fake pirep. You should know that a 737-400 does not have the legs to fly for over 11hours. So you can tell by the hours and aircraft flown. Knowing your aircraft is a benefit also, as then you can tell a fake from the aircraft used.

I know this post was from last month, but fsacars has been discontinued to be supported by phpvms, as it is real difficult to use and is not made any more.

I have an acars program custom made for me, I dont require pilots use it, it is a bonus. A lot of the members are nor even 18 yet, and are still thought submitting valid pireps even when they file it manually. I think it depends on who runs the VA, and how it is run. If you do not put too much strain on the pilot, like having to file 5 pireps a month to stay active, even if they file manual pireps, they will submit an honest pirep. Also you need to know what is a true flight and what isn't, by actually flying them yourself. So lets say for excample, someone flies from New York to London, most VA owners know it should take around 7-8 hours, if someone comes along and files a manual pirep claiming to have done that flight in 15hours, then you obviously know it is a fake pirep. You can give a +/- 40 mins on top of what it would be if you had the perfect weather, and a direct route. I have seen very strict VA's where you can only fly online, which is good, but the fun factor goes down a lot. Also those VA's are only for the hard core advanced simmer, not for a novice. It is a delicate balance between realism and a fun filled hobby site.

Actually just you is not enough, not even now. You need staff to start a VA. I know, I have tried the solo game before, and it was too overwhelming, and ended up failing, because I could not keep up.

a fully loaded 752 can take off from a 2500metre runway. A fully loaded 747 technically can, but will have no room to reject a take off if something goes wrong. A 752 is not as heavy as a 747. A 744 is heavier then a 741/2/3. I think the web site is ok, the footer seems to be out of line with the rest of the web page, and seems to be above a lot of the text. In terms of planes, there really isn't any hugely great freeware options for the cessna caravan, other then using the default one that comes with FS. Most model designers have stuck with the bigger jets, like the 737,727,747 and so on. There is a good freeware version of the ATR. What Iain said about "is it worth it" is more is it worth your time going with this project, is it going to work out, do you see it working out, or is it going to take too much of your time up?

Without any addons, and just use the phpvms as it is shipped, pilots cannot use the money they earn on flights they make. But there have been a few addons that have been built to allow the use of the money earn by the flights.

In the CSS put: ul.myname{ list-style-type:none; } name the ul what you want, that will gtet rid of the black dots.
