First Time Skinning - I've missed something...

OK, I have a template downloaded and I've got all the appropriate files in the skin's folder. But when I view my site, all I get is the CSS. I've missed something, and it's going to be stupidly funny to all of those who've done this hundreds of times , but this is my first try. Is it in layout.tpl? How do I edit the navigation bar?

Hey all, I have been working on learning how to skin vms and I got one working so far. I am going to town on it every day. BUT I have an issue on my ACRS map. Look up at the links on the map on the upper right. I am thinking it is css related. I have tweaked and prodded and poked everything an no such luck. Any ideas? I can't really link to the site since it is on my local host server. I would need to leave it run on my pc all night.

Ok here is my issue. If you look at the site click here! you will see there is a news update and at the beginning it says "test Posted by Tyler Johnson on 10/16/2010" I want to make it so it has a picture there instead. like i have a press release header i would like ot put on it at the top of all my news. instead of default posted by stuff. hi. I am new in this of phpvms, many ask me for codes to add some options to my airline. is that because these codes many of them always makes me someone who says I should create a table around the information. can someone please be so kind and patient to explain in detail how to create a table around a code for me to work on my airline? Hi everyone, I'm using the default crystal template (i've copied it into another folder to edit), and I was just wondering whether it would be possible to get the menu/nav bar to go along the left side of the page, rather than up the top? Has anyone been able to achieve this? (I appologise if i missed a thread, but i did a search and i couldn't find anything). If you have been able to achieve it, can you please share your wisdom? HEllo gents. I want to make a new skin, but rather than turning out stuff no one wants I figured that getting your feed back would be best. Tell me what you like in a skin, what features turn you on, 3 colums,2 colums, style of header, things like that. Don't worry about color, thats for you to decide. I remember there use to be a really nice video somewhere on this site where it showed you everything you needed to do to skin. Now there are only a few pointers that I can find in various places but no visuals. I checked the four topics made to "help" skin but im still stuck with a template and nothing else to do with it. Does anyone have any other kind of tutorial, video or pdf or something? I think it would help out a lot of people like me who need a refresher on the whole process. Heres the template I just finished.... I have changed the banner image now, and i also had to kill the quality to attach it I'm just doing this for fun/practice.

I am back at it and trying to figure this div stuff out once again. If anyone can point me in the right direction to using div tags that would be great. I always did and still can do some awesome tables, but as we all know, there is much better and cleaner ways to do things now. Since I am stuck back in the old school, this new school stuff is killing me. I have created a little website for school. I used this template I created once as a starter template for my VA but scrapped it real quick when I found out I don't know Sh*t about div. I'm using a modified version of Aer, and somehow I messed up the underlining of links. I know it's in the styles.css file, but I don't know what I messed up. I think to get things looking better, I need that back. Any ideas?

Hello, Ive recently put some pages in some of them are at the bottom or not in the right place, im also trying to get rid of these blue content things.and other news boexes that i dont want. There is also the airmail which is not in the right place. The Exam Admin bit is not right. All Pictures are here.
