When I went to install PHP VMS after uploading to a webhost. I ran the installation but got an error saying that core/local.config.php isnt writable. Also how do i write the permissions as stated on the prelimanary installation requirements. I have also use www.000webhost.com as my host. Please help i am very new to this and I need to have this site up asap.

Dear gentlemen. Part of my real world job involves tech writing. I have been working on my own to create a beginners guide for those who find themselves lacking the knowledge of php and particularly Phpvms. It will be a step by step illustrated guide (PDF) to help simmers to take advantage of this great freeware product. It isn't my intension to be technical but to provide a total walk through from unzipping through installation and a guide through the Admin panel. I separated this thread from the other one because the other thread has gone in some other direction. First of all I am not a software newbie, 20 years of experience and I am trying to start my VA but I don't have time to browse through PHP code. So, I use the same control panel (webhost4life?) as in the dummies guide. I did a clean installation as follows: 1. Created subdomain and subdirectory where subdomain points 2. Uploaded all files of phpVMS to the subdirectory of #1 3. Created a MySQL database 5.0.45 and noted its administrative username and set permissions (all as shown in the dummies guide) 4. This is a question and not a complaint. But It seems to me that the number of scheduled routes a VA has is the determining factor as to its rating. Although we are ranked 29th at this writing we beat many of the members above us in every category except the number of routes. We are a military VA with no routes, this criteria is preventing us from moving up the ranking. Please explain this. www.usavamc.com

G'day All, I'm looking for some support in changing the websites timezone to a local timezone, i have consulted support on the issue, but they refuse to help me, saying its not their problem. I have tried editing the local.config.php file with this echo(date_default_timezone_set("Australia/Sydney")); and Config::Set(date_default_timezone_set("Australia/Sydney")); both have been unsuccessful, how do i got about setting the website timezone properly ? Any help would be great because currently, all my schedules are 8 hours behind.

Does anybody have a script they wouldn't mind sharing for Pilot Applications to join a VA? If so, can you post here or pm me and also tell me where it goes on the server? Would prefer one that also has transfer hours and a space for a link to verify those hours. I think it is odd that phpvms does not include one. If is included, how do I activate it? Hello All, I am looking to create separate pages for my virtual airline's schedules. Is there a get a schedule function? In the API, I can see you can find by dep icao and arr icao but it doesn't mention anything about by airline.Does this just get called in the main module.php and then just set a variable? Hey guys, Just wondered what should be put in the fields named 'Weight' and 'Cruise' in the 'Add aircraft' part of the admin section. Should it be the weight of the aircraft unloaded or should it be the MTOW? I assume that the 'Cruise' field should contain the cruise speed in Mach? eg. '.78'? If the two fields don't affect the way that the phpVMS software works to calculate fuel costs etc. then I assume it doesn't matter what I put in there but clarification would be great. Look forward to hearing back from someone hopefully soon If you don't know what I mean above, I have attached a screenshot of the fields that I am talking about. Cheers, Bobby

Hi All, My site has suddenly started the issue for every pilot with a "Error you are already logged in" message when the pilot tries to log in when the page loads showing them logged out with the login form available. ANy ideas? Jon

I have several pilots coming over from a VA that is closing down. I am wanting their ranks to count towards their transferred hours. It is now working. Any ideas? Hey All, Very New to PHP VMS, I know HTML and CSS but not PHP so this is a new learning experience for me! Questions 1. I would like to embed the VATSIM Prefile page http://www.vatsim.net/fp/ directly into a page, that way I can file flightplans without leaving my site. Is this possible, and how would you do it? 2. Today I'm trying to install some acars for my airline.. As I already had xacars installed I tried that first: I Created the tables in the db as per instructions on the xacars website (xacars.net) Then I downloaded the php files for it, but there is absolutely no documentation about where to put these? I downloaded the xacars,ini file and put it in the xacars folder, that seems all fine but it doesnt write anything to my tables. On the contrary: when I click on "start acars" it just sits there ... until I click "stop acars" and then it crashes *thumbsdown* WTH? ps I noticed that when I download some file from my site it ads some counter code to it. Folks, Was just informed that my web site was shut down due to the host saying that I was using to much resources. here is a line from the error log: [15-Jul-2012 13:06:19] PHP Warning: strpos() [<a href='function.strpos'>function.strpos</a>]: Empty delimiter in /home6/flyvtwac/public_html/core/common/PilotData.class.php on line 191 There is just days and days of the same error message. The way my VA works is there are wings (hubs) with a number of squadrons in each wing. So on the registration form, the dropdown values for squadrons will have to change depending on what wing is selected. I don't know how I get the value of a dropdown later in the same form. The value I need is in red, but understandably doesn't work. I need to get the $wing->id for the option that is selected in requested wing field, to be passed to the requested quadron.
