As you will all know Gamespy is no more, some say good riddance, while others miss having somewhere they can fly together if they do not have the confidence to fly on VATSIM or IVAO. I’m from UKVirtual, we have a dedicated hardware server in a UK data centre (not a VPS). We have FSD and Teamspeak 2 installed (like many other VA’s have) so it is basically the same as VATSIM but without the pressure of needing to communicate with controllers if they don’t have the confidence (now I’m repeating myself!) The other day I was browsing some of the new and not so new VA's and noticed that at a lot of new "startup" VA's the CEO is doing a lot of flying. So far, nothing out of the ordinary - you'd expect the founder of a CEO to put time in. It is a common phenomena, that if you want to get a VA (or any club, society etc) off the ground, you need a "hard core"... a kind of "critical mass" to get the snowball rolling. Some VA's have the benefit of having a few people that sign up right from the start, or are a result of a merger. Others are not.
