I own a virtual airline (Historic Airline Group). I want to bring FSACARS to our airline, as well as bringing some sort of flight selector for pilots to use and an improved way to submit pireps. Right now we do it the old fashioned way: I get an email and post it by hand to the web site. Time to move into the 21st century! Problem is, I have no idea what I'm doing. I downloaded all the phpVMS & FSACARS material. I then opened up "phpvms For Dummies" and tried getting started. Took about two hours to realize I am in way over my head. Other than UAV (which is having issues at this time) I am thinking of a new Virtual Airline to create, which will start up this summer. It will be fictional, and there is my problem. I was wondering if you have any ideas for a name or scheme or something. Here are some plans I am thinking of: US Based Main hub in Minneapolis or Midwest location Other hubs TBD I want it to kind of be a laid-back, leisure airline. (Like Ted was) Any thoughts/ideas to jolt my mind would be appreciated.

As everyone knows, I built my VA website some time ago with phpVMS and I have had issues beyond my control and am now starting over from scratch. No launch date in sight so far. if it is not right this time, I am sticking to someone else's VA ;-) Soooo, I was wondering if I could con someone into creating me a Thunder VA logo to match the Crystal skin, that will work for me temporarily until I get all the bells and whistles done. This time around, the skin is going to be the last thing I do. So if I had a logo, atleast folks would know it is the Thunder VA site and not phpVMS site. Thanks in advance either way. Ray

A quick inquiry to all of your - I'm introducing navdata into phpVMS, for routes, just mainly a cosmetic thing. But it's quite a bit of overhead, to be honest. Here's how I've worked it out - Navigation data - fixes, waypoints, etc are on the API server. On first "use" they'll be retrieved, and stored in your database, though I'll make it available for you to load completely, locally. The reason I did this was because it's over 200,000 rows - about 6mb worth of data. It's also indexed, so that brings it to maybe 12mb size - quite a bit. But again, I'll have the .sql dumps available for download, in case you do want to load all of it locally. It doesn't do anything excep…

I haven't bashed MS in a long time. (a week) That is about to change. I went to the MS online store and got Outlook 2010. I downloqded the 64 bit version, which promptly told me since I had Office 2007 32 bit, I couldn't install it. Gotcha #1. I downloaded the 32 bit version, which refused to install because it thinks I still have one of the prerelease versions installed. I uninstalled it months ago. I would tell Steve Ballmer to go to hell, but hell hasn't caused me any trouble, so why should I bother hell.

We have a new airline getting started up trying to learn the phpvms system and get it going with out airline. Hope to possibly get some help with a few things but that's for another topic and another day! Thanks for looking! This is our A319 livery with our dark grey/blue, lime green, light blue and white. Just been surfing google street view, and i noticed a little 3d thing where you can toggle 3d imagery on and off. I dont know if it works cause i dont have any 3d specs, but it'd be cool if someone does try it and let me know the results

So a competitor has came out with a system much like phpVMS in it's own kind of new way. They claim they are superior to phpVMS because phpVMS is all full of bugs. Here is my take on it. 1. I love their software has a bootstrap template. 2. They have some awesome features that are integrated in or being worked on that others here are charging for. 3. It is actively being developed. Their cons: 1. No one is developing templates for it or modules. 2. It has a few bugs it self. Not even going to lie. 3. Their support forum is .... Well, meh. Great if you speak Spanish. Hey all. I have been simming online for years but refused to ever fly at VATSIM. Well, I have had a change of heart and as we speak, I am logged on to VATSIM monitoring radio COMS. Anyone have any friendly advice for a Vatsim virgin? Are charts mandatory to fly there? I know how to use SIDS and STARS so it is no biggie, was mainly curious. Any advice I can get I would love it. I would hate to log on and get banned my first flight for doing something wrong. I have heard time and time again about how picky they are there. Thanks Ray
